About this listen

Joss Sloan is a recently widowed young woman who has thrown herself into her hobby of offering advice to strangers via her online Dear Joss show. It is her escape, her therapy, while she mourns his untimely death.

A random phone call, made in error by the caller, sets off an unexpected long-distance relationship between Joss and the sexy voice from area code 808. The connection between them is undeniable, which leads her to agree to meet her mystery caller in person.

Amid her budding new romance with the voice from 808, Joss discovers that her deceased husband Michael has a secret that connects to a mysterious key she found in his belongings. Her curiosity drives her to seek answers, but it leads her down a dangerous path she has little control over.

While Joss attempts to keep her new love interest from getting involved in her dead husband's secrets, her struggle to protect him becomes increasingly tricky. Through a series of poor decisions, Joss's life becomes expendable by those leading the charge after her husband's passing.

Now scrambling to ascertain whom she can trust and what she can control, Joss realizes her saving grace is the very person she has been trying hardest to protect.

Beautiful duet narration, great story!

I love a good "wrong number" story that catches you right from the beginning and isn't cheesy. This story is sweet, sexy, fun & has the unexpected mystery w/stellar performances! Joss has experienced a significant loss in her life and tends to be a people pleaser. Even thought she is a people pleaser she is finding her own and moving on in a healthy way. Soren is everything I like in main male character. He's self sufficient, sex positive, outgoing, fun/funny, and just plain refreshing. Narration is done in duet, which is excellent!

Ok. Could've been better. DUET narration is great!

::This review contains some spoilers::

I feel like there could have been a lot more drama with the storyline and the sexual tension. There were some truly funny bits, like when the MFC was trying to guess the MMC's name. However, it felt a little like the MMC's attitude throughout the story was all over the place, and the MFC made some ridiculous decisions. Overall the story wasn't bad, just ok. If you like low steam and a pretty easy storyline, you might enjoy it.

I found it hard to suspend disbelief that the lead characters professed their love before they've even met. They'd barely had a handful of calls and a couple of semi-dressed facetimes. It was a little cringy and just didn't feel earned. (I had a long-distance relationship that started online/by phone. We were totally into one another, but there's no way we would have jumped into the "love" convo so soon, but 23 years later we're still together so our phone calls apparently worked). :)

As for the spice, it was also ok. It was a SLOW burn (even though the characters were professing their love before they even met). I really wanted to hear Jacob Morgan being let loose to deliver some dominance. It didn't have to be over the top, but the dialog kept teasing it, then never really delivered.

I LOVE Jacob Morgan's narration and will listen to anything he does. Ava does a really nice job as well. Connor Crais is used so little that I actually thought Jacob was changing things up and doing those voices. Either way, I'm so glad the author went with Jacob and Ava and had the audiobook done in DUET narration. It makes for a much better listening experience, imo.

love it.

this was my first book from this author and I'm soo happy I bought it. let me start with the story because is not your usual how you meet a person but it works in this book plus the drama and twist in this book was unexpected it but still a HEA. Narrators!?!? great, amazing, 3 of my favorite narrators, Ava Lucas was superb as always and damn it....made me cry but that's what I love from narrators I want to feel what the characters feel. Jacob Morgan brilliant and like Ava I felt everything his character was feeling and oh. my. God. Jacob singing is swoon worthy!!! My dear Connor was great but didn't have a really big part but it was still important part and as always superb performance. Yes I would recommend this book like it was to me by a group of fans of all the narrators.

BEST NARRATING EVER BY ALL PARTIES ❤️

Listening to this book was great. No fake voices for once. As for the story wasn’t to bad kept me guessing and of course I was wrong. I wish the ending would have been better would have given more info on what happen with the bad people, but other then that nice love story.

Love it

Wow! A-list narration team. Story was good although I would have liked all the bad guys to actually get what was coming to them.. loved the love connection and the way they met. Insta love is not normally my jam, but every once in awhile it works. Totally worth the listen!

So good!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started this book but I absolutely loved it! There is much more mystery and intrigue surrounding the characters that you wouldn’t expect.

Didn't live up to the hype

From the buzz about this book that I've seen online I was expecting to be blown away by it and instead I was mostly confused and rather let down. The writing was fine but the story-telling felt disjointed and incomplete.

I didn't at all feel the insta-love connection between the two main characters and honestly ended the story feeling like he could potentially walk away from her some time in the future. He says he loves her but you know what they say about actions versus words.

As for the suspense aspect of the book - it was done in such broad strokes and so sporadically that it just felt highly unrealistic. I've read more unrealistic plot lines that FELT more real than this one just by virtue of being more thought-out and detailed. Add to that the fact that we never get any true answers about what was going on. There's no explanation, no justice for the bad guys, etc. and it left me feeling unsatisfied.

The best part of this book was the narration which was stellar. This wasn't surprising given their talent, experience and professionalism.

Narrations are incredibly swoon worthy

The story had me not wanting to stop my car. AirPods in until I was done. Jason Morgan is the sole reason for me buying this book, and I fell in love with the book. Now I want to go to Utah and Hawaii. Thank you for taking me away from all the chaos of 2020 helping me find my muse to get back in my writing cave and write a book just so I can have Jacob Morgan And Ava Lucas be my narrators.

And he sings too!!

I absolutely loved this book. It was insta-love at its best. A very unique story with REAL LIFE reactions. The narrating was amazing. Connor has a small role but I loved his voice. I haven’t been a huge fan of Ava’s but I didn’t dislike her before this. But in this book- she was flippin amazing! And in a class by himself, Jacob Morgan was sex on wheels...well, sorta...he sounds fantastic and he sangggg OMG, I totally almost died. He’s absolutely delicious. I can go on and on but you’ll have to get the book to really appreciate it. This is my first book by Sandra and I love her writing style. Can’t wait to listen to more. 💕
