About this listen

How far would you go for a stranger?

Kit

When your life falls apart and grief consumes you, what better way to forget than to take a winter mountaineering course in the Scottish Highlands?

That was my thought when I booked myself on to it. Now I’m regretting ever signing up. Getting paired up with a grumpy stranger who thinks I’m a foolish amateur is only the tip of the iceberg.

When an avalanche hits, we get separated from the group and have to find another way down the mountain. After he gets injured and has to rely on me for survival, things go from bad to worse. With no hope of rescue in sight, I have a feeling he’s going to be more of a challenge than the dire conditions we’re in.

Thane

When you lose everything and grief drowns you, what better way to remember you’re alive than in freezing cold conditions with nature surrounding you?

I thought getting away from it all would help me forget about her. However, on the mountaineering course my friend convinced me to help him with, he paired me up with an inexperienced partner. They can’t do anything right and it’s driving me up the wall.

Now I’m trapped needing them more than I’ve ever needed anyone in a fight to survive after we get stuck in the mountains with no way of contacting the outside world. With all hope lost, I have a feeling they might be the death of me, even if we get out of this alive.

A standalone survival romance (M/Non-binary pairing) with major themes of grief throughout.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Emotional!

This is a such a wonderful story, an original romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your at your heartstrings like no other. Kit, who is non-binary, was in love with their best friend, Sienna, who takes advantage of their kindness and friendship, which results in a devastating loss. Sienna had some cruel words and showed Kit her true colors, making them second guess their friendship. Kit then takes off to the Scottish Highlands for a winter mountaineering adventure, a good way to get their mind off of their loss. Thane is grieving from his own loss, but his friend gets him out to help work the course on the mountain, the same course Kit is taking. The two bonk heads right from the start, and seeing they need extra help and attention, Thane partners up with them to work one on one. Then an avalanche hits, throwing them off the course and all alone. Kit thinks quick and gets an injured Thane to safety, and both get into survival mode. The two must wait out a storm and hope search teams come looking for them. While waiting the storm out, the two become acquainted and they find it easy to talk to each other, and eventually share what they have been through. Both have interesting backstories, heartbreaking stories, but they get each other and are great for one another. Thane was accepting of Kit being on the spectrum and her needs. There is never a dull moment in this story, a multi-layered story with complex characters and the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and spicy romance. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Sarah Bailey, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Zoe Baxter and Sean Masters did a fantastic job voicing the characters and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting, accents and all, and were convincing in every role. Masters nails it as Thane, grasping every aspect of his personality and demeanor, from his grumpiness to his caring side and he was a natural performing in with a Scottish accent. Baxter was just as amazing in Kit’s role, showcasing their personality and demeanor perfectly and was a natural in the role, too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that keeps you glued to the story while taking it to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
