About this listen

Camelot isn’t the town it’s cracked up to be.

It's full of murderers, thieves, and peasants struggling every day to get by.

And me.

I’m a pickpocket. A con artist. A seducer of women.

But when one of King Arthur’s thugs got me hanged, I had to become something more.

I got a second chance at life. And now, with the aid of a beautiful enchantress and the other women in my life, I'm turning Camelot on its head.

Call me a villain. Call me a hero. Call me whatever you want, but I’m just looking out for me and mine.

And this time around, I’m making my own damn rules.

Note: The Bastard is the story of Mordie, a man with a more flexible sense of morality than most. It's a tale of swords, secrets, magic, revenge, betrayal, unconventional relationships, and even a dragon or two.

This omnibus contains all three original books of The Bastard series. It is complete.

Really!!

Ends way too fast. I feel like the author got bored at the end. No spoilers but I’m disappointed……… “it’s your fault!!!” lol

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

This is the best book I've ever read (well listened too). Not once did I get bored, distracted or lose interest. It's a perfect blend of spicy, action, love, hate, revenge and fantasy. GET THE BOOK. The narration is absolutely flawless as well, very easy to listen too.

Waste of time

Want an MC that is both incompetent and only good on paper? Mordy is the idiot. His ability to make people like him is a literary device since he’s the epitome of every womanizing asshole. He keeps saying he’s always known what to say and has all of this empathy. What he doesn’t have is motivation. Even his main drive to save the woman he put in danger EVENTUALLY ends poorly for him. It’s SO UNCOMFORTABLE that I rage-quit the series on the 3rd book. If you like your heroes incompetent and bland, Mordy is your guy. The narrator at least does a really good job, and even pronounces commonly mispronounced words properly…almost. Yes, it’s mischievous not mischievious, but he places emphasis on the wrong syllable. In any case, this series is worth it since it’s all 3 books for one credit but that’s it, as far as I’m concerned. I mean why even use the King Arthur setting?! It started so well too.

Not bad but...

If you want something to listen to while on a road trip this is not the book for you. It's a bit slow and not very exciting. However, if you want something to listen to while working around the house or at work or while shopping or better yet while at the Dept of Motor vehicle, then this is a perfect time filler.

Classic and exciting; a "must read" for magicians!

An ancient tale of Camelot from an unexpected point of view for all whose heart still lives in a long-forgotten age of magic, kings, and dragons. Well performed and written!

A good story!

An interesting take on an ancient tale. I enjoyed it and as much as I wanted strangle the MC for being so darn naive I did enjoy the story.

The third book is Best avoided.

I don't know why the first two books built it up so much just for it to crash in the beginning of the third book.

Great listen I just have a minor problem with it.

I did enjoy how it started and how the story progressed but I just didn’t like how it was based on characters and places that already exist in other fairy tails. Besides that it was well written.

it was a good story well written, the performance was a little choppy. I had to speed up the performance so it flowed better. over All a decent book.

King Arthur as a bad guy!?!?

You read that right. Seriously, just read on to get what I mean. This is a story that is beautifully crafted from beginning to end. I wasn’t quite sure how I would enjoy having one of my favorite characters of all time villainized but I was pleasantly surprised. From this story’s point of view, Camelot didn’t get the happily ever after it deserved and Arthur ended up being a pile of shite you just wanted to chuck into a fire pit. The only problem I had with the story is the end seemed a bit lacking. Maybe I got too used to prologues from most of the books I listen to, but I would like to have had one here. Either way, it’s still a most excellently crafted story, Mr. Porter. ;-)
