About this listen

From best-selling author Natasha Stories.

Erin Timms took a new job as a veterinarian in Sunshine, Colorado, for two important reasons: to get away from her ex, and to give herself a chance at a new life. But when devastating news of her ex follows her there, she begins to think she has made a terrible mistake.

Tall, stunning-looking Jon Miles had only one goal: to save the mountain canyon where Sunshine is located from businessmen who want to exploit it. But how can he do that when he is already an outcast?

There was nothing to suggest they’d ever meet, much less strike a spark of red-hot romance. Except that Erin can never turn away a stray....

A Wonderful love Story

Erin Timms finds herself starting her life over in the small town of Sunshine, Colorado. She’s a vet and after a breakup with her ex she’s left Dallas, Texas and is trying small town life, which as she comes to experience is very different. She encounters Jon Miles one evening when he brings a stray dog he’s just hit with his car, now Jon’s really hot. Every time Erin sees him she gets tongue tied, or rubbish comes of her month.
Jon is bowled over by Erin and is definitely interested. Unfortunately both parties have a lot of unresolved issues, which keeps them apart. So there lots of unresolved angst from Erin, which the Sierra brings to life all the emotion and especially Erin’s evening with BOB to life very realistically. Wow Jon voice is brought to life dripping with sex appeal by Jeffrey that has all the female listeners sit up and  take notice. The star of the story for me was Max the golden retriever who was the Stray in the title or was  he.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Sierra Kline. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Kept Me Listening!

Erin's working as a vet in the small resort town of Sunshine, Colorado, hoping to earn enough to buy the business and settle there for good. When Jon comes in with a neglected golden retriever that he accidentally hit with his car, Erin and Jon are immediately attracted to each other. But both have baggage they can't shake. News of Erin's jerky ex-boyfriend comes back to haunt her, and Jon's fake girlfriend won't let him go so easily.

Any book with a sweet dog in it is a winner for me, and I loved the happy go lucky golden retriever that brought our main couple together. The descriptions of the vet practice were interesting, and I liked the small town of Sunshine, it took on a personality of its own. The secondary characters like Doc and Mrs. P really added something to the story.

The main characters were well developed and the plot full of drama. Erin was a bit weak in the beginning. We get to see all the ferocity and anger inside her head, but it took her a while to show it. Jon was a hottie and he knew it, perfect on the outside, but with some major flaws. It was a steamy read with explicit scenes.

The narration was great, with a different narrator to perform Erin and Jon's chapters. I've listened to Jeffrey Kafer before and enjoyed his narration, but Sierra Kline was new to me, and I really liked the emotion she brought to Erin's point of view. The switch from male to female voice in a new chapter was never jarring, their voices worked really well together. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Not my cup of tea

This wasn't exactly my cup of tea.
The female narrator was good and I like how she did her parts of the story, but the male narrator I didn't quite like it, the character voice was supposed to be sexy and swoony and he couldn't portray this , in my own opinion.

The story was ok but not great, I think I like the dog more than the other characters lol.

DON’T JUDGE A STRAY BY IT’S COVER

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

In a small town that was duped into allowing a tourist trap ski development, can love find its way through a complicated maze of betrayal and doubt, judgment and denial, pretense and desire? Erin was dumped by her ex because her medical degree in Veterinary Practice wasn’t socially worthy of his practice for human patients. She moved to the small town hoping to start over in her own practice after finding one that was soon to be sold. Although overwhelmed with a workload caused by the lack of help, she nonetheless stays open late to help a dog carried in by a man who claims to have hit him. He seems like a city tourist and is distracted with phone calls so she expects him to bail, but he surprises her when he lays down $1000 as down payment. Erin’s interest grows as he continues to visit the dog and eventually takes over his rehab. Jon, from his first sight of the veterinarian, is intrigued. Yes, he does care for animals but it’s the cute vet that keeps him coming around and trying to get a date.

There’s a deeper story to Jon’s reason for being in Sunshine. He has roots, and he has plans. But in order for them to play out he must play a game of deceit, putting at risk all hope of winning the trust of Erin.

I’m a big fan of Jeffrey Kafer and he doesn’t disappoint me here. Sierra Kline is new to me and I found her delightful.

Two Thumbs Up!

An Enjoyable Read

I’m not going to lie: I totally didn’t expect that this story would be as entertaining as it turned out to be.

I really enjoyed the characters of Erin and Jon and how their relationships (Both with each other, and other characters) had ups and downs.

There was a ton of plot, which can be hard to do in a 7 hour 32 minute audiobook, but it was super well done in this story.

One thing, I liked was that both main lead characters seemed to grow and mature after all the events that occurred in the story.

There is some cheating that goes on, so if that is an issue for anyone, they may want to stay clear of this story.

The narrators were both excellent in their portrayal of Erin and Jon.

I really enjoyed the characters, plot, and basically the entire story. 5 stars.

Great narration, a bit too much happening though

Stray has all the makings of a fantastic book. I think the storyline had a bit too much going on. Sierra Kline and Jeffrey Kafer. They were fantastic together and really had some good chemistry! Both voices were so expressive. I was incredibly impressed with Sierra Kline. She portrayed all of Erin’s feelings perfectly.

Loved this!

Fantastic and well written story of two unlikely people and the loveable stray dog that brought them together. Plenty of small town drama and romance. Fantastic narrators as well, they really made the listening experience. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Stray

I have mixed feelings about this story and its characters. It worked because it has a plot, intrigue and conflict, characters that I liked and some I wanted to smack into next Sunday. I liked Jon, despite him doing some questionable things, I felt sorry for him after finding out his backstory, the guy couldn't get a break. He gets quite a few shocks in a short time. And the dog... Max was great, glad Erin was able to save him.
There was a lot of drama, a bit much for my taste, small town gossip and entitled rich girls but I guess it added to the conflict in the story. Erin didn't help either, she is not among my faves either, a bit wimpy and a lot gullible. I am not a fan of weak female leads.

Mr. Kafer is among my fave narrators and it is always a pleasure to listen to. Love the voices, Jon and especially Doc. My first listen from Ms. Kline who for the most part did ok and had some good variations for the many characters, I found that for Erin some parts sounded overdone to me or overly soft for the situation.
