About this listen

Thomas has worked at the rec center in Brac Village for as long as he can remember. He loves his job and helping out the community. But Thomas soon finds out that the town he has lived in all of his life isn't what it seems. Federal Marshal Tyler Alpine has wrapped up the case he was working on in Brac Village and is ready to head out when he spots a gorgeous man in need of help. When Tyler decides he can't pass up a good-looking man with car trouble, he soon finds out that the stunning man is his mate. Thomas invites Tyler in for a hot cup of coffee and soon finds himself in the arms of one very attractive wolf shifter. But when trouble lands on Thomas's doorstep, he must rely on Tyler's quick wit and skills to save him from a date gone horribly wrong.

Great Story Worst Narrator EVER!!!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Great little short story of shifter/human gay love; BUT the WORST NARRATOR & NARRATION EVER!!! You can hear gum/lip smacking, swallowing, drinking, pauses to catch breathe, & more.

What did you like best about this story?

It ended. Though I do actually like the Brac Pack series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

You can hear gum/lip smacking, swallowing, drinking, pauses to catch breathe, & more.

Could you see Mating Thomas being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

Read it or have someone read it to you, do not buy the Jordan Taylor Audio version. Jordan Taylor must be the worst narrator ever; I will never again buy anything that has been narrated by him or even listen to it if it were provided to me free of charge!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this audio book.Narration was not good and the story was pretty lame.

Has Mating Thomas turned you off from other books in this genre?

This book does not impact on my love of M/M books

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jordan Taylor?

all my favoite narrators are too talented to be wasted on a book like this

Did Mating Thomas inspire you to do anything?

no

Audio was poor.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Mr. Taylor's voice was nice, but the pauses and the distortion on the audio was very bad.
To read this slow on audio is not a good idea.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Poor reading. Good voice but bad pauses and timing. Also distortion is not good.

Great little excerpt :)

Somewhat short and a bit "jumpy" story, like a couple of chapters excerpted from a novel, but I really like the language, storytelling and being familiar with the Brac-series, it wasn't hard to catch on. Nice reading by Jordan Taylor.

not the right narrator for the book

I usually like Brac Pack books but this is not the right person to narrate. he is probably awesome for non fiction, but not fiction. the ability to create distinct voices for each character is the bare minimum for a novel. I found myself thinking about other things while listening. after many restarts, I gave up. I just couldn't get engaged with the story.

More like 0 stars; Bad story, bad narration

This is my first listen by this author and, likely, my last. This is a love story about Thomas and Tyler, a werewolf and copy, coming together in an open shifter town. I regret this buy, and I think it’s primarily b/c of the work of the narrator, not the story. The narrator had too many misplaced pauses and deep breaths that detracted from a good experience listening to this story. And there are few things more irritating to me than hearing someone swallow. When the narrator was supposed to be verbally forceful due to a great sexual and emotional need, he sounded mad and scary, instead. The narrator doesn’t seem to get the difference between dominating and being domineering when it comes to the treatment of the submissive vs. the subjugated. And the narrator would holler, supposedly in passion and lust, but it sounded like he was in pain (not in a good way) and fear (not in a good way), instead. There were other times during the story-telling that the narrator seemed to use the wrong inflection. And the voices the narrator chose for four other side characters—Tyler’s partner, a diner waiter, and two diner robbers—were so, so, so, so, so bad. They sounded like a child playing pretend and making voices. I have never, ever, ever heard such bad voices. And I’ve listened to well over 1000 books. I’ve never spent so much time on the narration in my book review, but this book requires it. It is absolutely the worst narration I have heard. This story has bad, bad narration.

More than once, I almost didn’t finish this story. It was unbearable. I know the story is short, but the author should’ve chosen better what to attend to. Of course, with the bad narration it might not have matters. Still, the listener never knows how Tyler realized that Thomas was his mate, so it didn’t seem to quite make sense. The whole attraction was about hotness. The author tried to insert a bit less shallowness, but it failed b/c the vast majority of attention was paid to the hotness of each other. I know it is erotica, but there could be a bit more substance when one is talking about one’s mate. Mating for life would seem to need to be about more than hotness. We are not talking about a one-night stand here. And the bit of mystery in the story came out of nowhere with no basis. It was the worst of contrivances. And that’s only the first contrivance. Unfortunately, the author added a second, unrelated contrivance. I’m not sure why they were included. I don’t even know how it added to the story. At least the contrivances could be critical to the story development, but it wasn’t the case here. Finally, Tyler’s referring to Thomas as “hon” as soon as they meet was ill-fitting and irritating. It didn’t fit with either character. And the two sex scenes didn’t improve the story. They were barely explicit and boring. And then it just ends sort of mid-stride. It was so weird. But what else could be expected from such a contrived story. Clearly neither the author nor the narrator knew what they were doing. Theirs is a match made in hell for sure, story and narration hell, that is.

Awful

The narrator should never do accents, he was awful. His narration detracted from the story so much I honestly can not tell you what the story was about. When I hear a bad narration it makes me wonder if anyone listens to the audio before it is released to be purchased. He was to close to the mic so you heard breath's taken and swallowing. The way he differentiate the two MC's was to back away from the mic.Don't by the audio version.
