About this listen

From New York Times bestselling romance author Nora Roberts comes a classic tale of passion and peril....

Maggie Fitzgerald had retreated from her fast-paced life, seeking solitude to heal her tattered heart. But if landscaper Cliff Delaney's rude manner and irresistible sexuality weren't disturbing enough, now an old murder shattered her peace entirely, imperiling her life and forcing her right into the protective arms of the most irritating man alive! Delaney's night moves were enough to make even the saddest woman smile... but were they also those of a killer?

Just okay

This book was just okay. Too predictable and it just never really grabbed my interest.

Good book

This wasn't one of Nora Roberts best books, but that being said it was still a good book and well worth the listen. The Narrator was good and pleasant to listen to.

Classic early Nora Roberts

I find it fascinating to read historical novels and have no problem with the time/era differences from today. Yet as I read/listen to this 1985 novel by Ms. Roberts I am flummoxed at how weird it seems. I realize I still am expecting a 2000+ Nora Roberts' novel. Too many differences to mention in writing and technology to note here. Still, I enjoyed the experience even though I sometimes felt cultural shock. I have determined never to listen to another of Ms. Roberts' novels with a female narrator other than Julia Whelan doing a male voice. Just too creepy for me to be caught up in the drama of the narration and then hear the hero (and other males) sound like 14- or 15-year-old teens trying to sound serious and romantic with a mature woman. Just ick. Many really good narrators out there who can do both male and female well for me to spend irritating time shaking my head at poor narration.

A beautiful Nora Roberts "cop story".

I liked the suspense. There was no way to guess the end ahead of time!!!

Period male-female portrayals

Definitely reflects the more common tstl female characterizations of its original 1985 publication. Add the whammy of Cliff being a real jerk who constantly mentally judges Maggie as being shallow and privileged. He’s the one being judgmental, not her.
I’m reviewing this book 39 years later when I have more experience and less tolerance for bull-oney. Nowadays, I value characters who know the meaning of emotional intelligence.
Arndt made this story work with top notch narration.

ENJOYABLE BUT NOT MUCH OF A STORY

Where does Night Moves rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It would probably be in the lower 50%. It was advertised as a mystery but actually a romance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Night Moves?

the first time they had sex. It was rather random.

What does Andi Arndt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does as good job with the female voice - which is basically all it's about.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really, this was a predictable romance with a little mystery thrown in at the last part of the story.

Weak narration

Narrator was weak; however, I was able to determine which character was speaking. Great story.

A story I have read many times. Now listening to via Audible, it is like watching a favorite movie.

The characterization is excellent and setting well executed. I can see it all. The story has enough twists and turn it kept my attention and interest throughout.

Andi Arndt did a fabulous job.
