About this listen

What if your life was a lie?

From the outside, Jay’s life seems idyllic–a 20-something who runs his family’s business with high disposable income and freedom. But in reality, Jay’s life is dictated by a bigoted, controlling, abusive father who insists Jay simply can’t be gay. Jay yearns for his own life with a dominant man, but it’s an out-of-reach pipe dream. When he meets Eric, a trained Dom, the most Jay can hope for is the occasional one-night-stand or quick fling.

Eric has his heart set on Jay, and not only for more than one night. Jay is the type of sub Eric could easily spend the rest of his life with. While trying to navigate winning Jay’s love, Eric’s life is further complicated by chasing down a killer who may be something other than human.

When Jay is targeted, Eric wants only to protect him. Can he save Jay’s life and win his heart as well?

Good BDSM story

Hi Y’all! Come grab a cold drink while I tell you about this book I just read.
The title is For the Long Run by Elizabeth Nobel.
The cover is ok though headless people aren’t my favorite. Then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because I love a good murder suspense.

The story is a romantic suspense, with PNR elements.
There are a lot of twists.
Was there something I didn’t like? It’s not that I didn’t like it just I didn’t see why the bdsm was necessary with all the other things going on. Like the murders, the family issues and the romance.

I did like the ending. It was HEA and I found it very satisfying.
How hot was the book? Super hot!
If you like BDSM, Ds relationship, instalove, paranormal suspense you will love this.
I listened in audio and really enjoyed it.
I loved Jay’s kinda growly voice, the pacing is good . I highly recommend it!

Enjoyable read!

I've stumbled upon a truly captivating tale that's got a bit of everything - MM romance, BDSM, a dash of murder mystery, some political intrigue, and even a sprinkle of the paranormal. It kicks off as a sweet love story (with some seriously spicy domination scenes), but oh boy, it evolves into something way more fascinating. Brace yourselves for an otherworldly twist - the book's last quarter is a real brain twister! Took me a moment to sync with the narration as the emotions portrayed didn't always hit the right note with certain moments in the book.

Murder Mystery at the Resort + BDSM

This book, with co-genres of BDSM and mystery, tells a coherent story, but could have delved deeper into both subjects. The mystery, in particular, gets short shrift, which is disappointing because a truly terrifying scene that held real promise for more stellar suspenseful moments never delivers.

I like the BDSM dynamic between Jay and Eric. It’s a tiny bit too insta-love for me personally, but I definitely get love feels from the portrayal of their relationship.

Narration by Samuel Mann is great. He conveys Jay’s terror perfectly during my favorite scene in the book (being vague to avoid spoiling). I will be on the lookout for more by this performer.

Interesting story, solid narration

This is a new-to-me author plus a new-to-me narrator, so this was taking a double chance for me. While the setup is one I’ve read many times—two guys meet in a bar and hook up, only to find themselves faced with each other in an awkward situation later—it was the characters who pulled me in and kept my interest throughout the story.

Jay is in an unfair situation thanks to his jerk of a father, but he keeps towing the line and going along with things with an eye towards eventually breaking free of his hold and finally getting to live his life the way he wants…without his father’s strings attached.

Jay and Eric fit easily together, and their connection is obvious and strong. Keeping up appearances for Jay’s sake with his father isn’t ideal, but it all comes down to the same thing—playing the long game to get what they really want in the end. I really liked the two of them as a couple, and the super hot physical scenes were that bonus cherry on top.

The murders that keep happening which seem to be connected somehow to Jay’s family’s resort add a strong element of suspense to the story. That there’s some kind of unidentified supernatural element involved notches the thriller aspect up as well. Add in some family drama—Jay’s dad is a real piece of work—and it makes for an interesting read/listen.

I thought the narration was really good. There was an definite differentiation of voices for the characters, and expression of emotion at the appropriate points. I was easily enveloped in the story as I listened, so I’ll be on the lookout for more from this narrator.

Overall, For the Long Run gets a solid 4 stars from me, with the narration getting 4.5 stars. If you’re a fan of erotic romance that includes a D/s relationship and a bit of suspense and drama, I’d recommend checking this one out. This book is meant for readers/listeners 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Could have used a bit more

Jay has been forced to live a lie by his conservative father who is a senator. Jay is gay, but his father has forced him into the closet and even arranged a fiancée for him.
When people start turning up dead on the hunting resort property Jay manages, his father hires security to protect the lodgers

Enter Eric

Not only is Eric a trained security and investigations expert, he is also a Dom
Eric can't help but be drawn to Jay and his submissive side.
And for Jay, Eric is everything he has ever wanted in a partner

Despite the murder victims that are starting to turn up at the resort
Against his father's wishes
Jay and Eric pursue a secret relationship that soon becomes a danger for them both

This has a lot of smexy steamy scenes - instant attraction/love - intense moments-
really disliked dear old Dad - suspense - and the sweetest HEA

I did have problems with the narration at times - it lacked the excitement /expression that I was sensing from the characters
I also would have liked a deeper connection between the two main characters and some more details when it came to certain scenes and the reasoning behind them (me thing)
I didn't see the guilty party coming - however again I would have liked a bit more background, time with it/him/her (yeah not giving that away)
