About this listen

Between running from her past, working three jobs, and worrying about her family, the only thing that could further complicate singer Bethany Amaya's life is falling in love. But after serendipitously attending a speed dating event and meeting the intense and sexy detective Damian Santiago, that's exactly what happens. In the blink of an eye, Bethany is caught up in a passionate affair with the most irresistible man she's ever met.

As their romance heats up, Damian's skills of detecting and reading body language begin to raise his suspicions. Bethany is keeping something from him. But Bethany refuses to get Damian caught up in her troubles. She feels that some things are better left unsaid. With everything suddenly working against her, the race is on to fix her life before the truth is revealed and Damian finds out it's even worse than he imagines.

Steamy and addictive, Desert Heat is the story of a fiery whirlwind romance threatened at every turn by a dark secret.

Meh, too long to get to the point.

What did you like best about Desert Heat? What did you like least?

This book was really middle of the road for me, so I honestly can't pick out a "best" thing, but the worst was the pacing. Soooo slow for me!

Would you recommend Desert Heat to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not, there is a plethora of books I'd rather recommend before this one would even come to mind.

Which character – as performed by Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York – was your favorite?

I absolutely love Sebastian York, he was the main reason I bought this book. Great job on all characters, as always! My first by Shayna Thibodeaux, and while she's not the best I've ever heard, she was okay to listen to and didn't detract from the story, which some narrators do.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Getting to the flipping point sooner! It seemed to drag, and when I was about 6.5 hours in and I STILL didn't know what she was hiding, it went from being interesting to just being frustrating. In some books the hotness factor makes up for it and keeps me from noticing that the story is dragging a bit, but I just didn't get that here.

Romantic! Sexy! Entertaining!

Would you listen to Desert Heat again? Why?

Yes, I love the story line. It was entertaining to listen too.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the Santiago's Brothers and Sister, they were very entertaining.

Have you listened to any of Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Perfect pair!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the beginning of the story how Bethany dismissed Damian.

Any additional comments?

I hope there will be a second book.

Captivating read!

This was my first book by this author. I will most certainly read others. Very well edited and great plot. Character development was also a plus. Loved how there was a secret immersed in their relationship. Great read.

Wish I would have saved my credit.

What disappointed you about Desert Heat?

* SPOILERS*. It took forever for the story to pick up. The male and female lead kinda had the personalities of a cactus. The only real emotion that was showed from either of them was a lot of jealousy. Even the love scenes were unremarkable and bland. I mean you can write the most toe curling encounters and all you want to write about is him constantly sticking his finger in her mouth? First time yeah kinda hot 3rd and 4th just go wash your hand dammit! It was annoying how much trouble the female lead got herself into when really the problems she had wasn't that big of a deal. I didn't like how he just accepted her lying behind back no problem. I know love is consuming but at least let her sweat it out. Overall the story was just disappointing. As expensive as these audiobooks are authors should really only record the favorites. From what I hear this author has another series that people love much more.

What was most disappointing about Elizabeth Reyes’s story?

*SPOILER* It was such a big build up to what her big secret that she was hiding was it a killer? The Russian mob? Crazy psycho stalker?....No it was INS! Wait! What?! Come on really? That was a MAJOR bummer. She ran and lied about that? So then after her lying about everything but the weather he pretty much just takes her back taking no time to think about all the pointless lying she had done. They tried to make her come off in the beginning like she was very wise and intelligent but she could have gotten herself out of all this "trouble" rather easily.

What three words best describe Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York ’s performance?

Did the best they could with a lackluster story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narrators were not horrible. Shayna did have a little trouble with timing but I have heard worst. Sebastian York I have heard before and I really enjoy him so he worked with what he got which wasn't much.
