Publisher's summary

New from 20-time USA Today best seller Sarina Bowen!

How to behave when the guy who broke your heart 2,000 miles away turns up in your office:

One: Don’t drop your lucky coffee cup in shock, even though it’s been 10 years.

Two: Don’t get defensive when he asks how you ended up working his family’s ski mountain…and why you kept it a secret.

Three: Give him the worst room in the resort. He deserves it for suddenly waltzing back in like he owns the place. (Which he kind of does.)

Four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine: Do not kiss him in the hot tub.

Ten: Try to keep your heart intact after you break all of your rules.

Because Reed is leaving again. Hate can't turn back into love. And it’s a little too late

It’s a 5

I love second chance romance and the fact that the two characters immediately fell back in love. They figured their shit out and moved on to the next phase of their lives

Love the Storyline and Narration

Great narration job. The storyline is filled with humor, angst, banter, sorrow, anger, and love. I enjoyed this introduction into the series.

Intriguing from that start with the best narrators!

“As if it’s perfectly normal to move to the tiny town where your ex grew up and take a job working with his father.” An intriguing book right from the start that had me hooked! That quote right there had me wanting to know more and as I kept reading I became more and more captivated by Reed Madigan and Ava Aichers!

This is the first book in the series at Madigan Mountain resort in Colorado. This first one is about the oldest brother, Reed Madigan and is a 2nd chance and enemies to lovers story. This book sets up the whole series so I highly recommend reading this one first! It’s a cute romance story, with angst that doesn’t drag on which I love! The only thing I didn’t like is that the flashback chapters are all written in 3rd person. I wish those had been in first person and stayed in the same POV throughout the whole book! Besides that, it’s a very enjoyable story!

Sebastian York and Andi Arndt were perfect for the narration of this book! Their voices were exactly what I imagined for these characters and as always they did a flawless performance!

A wonderful second chance romance

I really enjoyed this book, the first in the new Madigan Mountain series by three different authors. Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros write the other two books in the series about the Madigan brothers.

This is a sweet second chance romance for Ava and Reed, who had been college sweethearts. They experienced some trauma that triggered their break up, and their ten year separation. Reed returns to Madigan Mountain when he learns his father, Mark, has plans to sell, and he finds that Ava is manager of the ski resort.

Ava is very easy to like, works hard, is a very good manager. She has a great group of friends at the resort who help to support each other. She has a good relationship with her boss, Mark, and with the resort employees.

Reed is highly successful in his career, but has almost no contact with is family, and no real relationships with women. He does have a wonderful assistant, Sheila, who is also a close friend. When Reed arrives at the resort, he and Ava are initially wary of each other, but their attraction still sizzles.

A Little Too Late is all about second chances. Of course Ava and Reed's romance has a second chance. However, Reed and his father, Mark, also have a chance to repair their relationship, which was nearly severed after the death of Reed's mother and Mark's wife. Even the pending sale of Madigan Mountain could mean a second chance for their ski resort. Watching these second chances unfold, especially Reed and Ava's, is a fun and interesting read.

I listened to the audio for A Little Too Late. Wonderfully narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, the story really comes alive.

I can't wait to read the next two entries in the Madison Mountain series!

I received an Advance Listener Copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this! (Spoilers)

A heartwarming second-chance story with Yellowstone vibes (small town locals vs big city land developers). I also appreciated how SB used Kintsugi as an analogy for when broken things can turn into something even more beautiful and valuable.
I wish we would have known more details surrounding the miscarriage and the aftermath. It’s a topic that isn’t talked about enough for how common (1 in 4 pregnancies) and how devastating it is.
Looking forward to reading the next book and seeing a new author’s take on Madigan Mountain!
Well done Sarina Bowen!

Great start to the Madigan Mountain series, second chance romance!

A Little Too Late is the first book in the Madigan Mountain collab series! I loved the Hush Note rockstar romance series that Sarina Bowen, Devney Perry, and Rebecca Yarros collab’d on and was excited for this new series they were doing! There are 3 standalone books in the Madigan Mountain series, each by one of the authors, following the 3 Madigan brothers at their family’s ski resort.

This first book was a great intro to the series! The story starts with Reed Madigan headed back to Colorado, he received an email from his father the day before telling Reed and his 2 brothers (the heroes of the next 2 books) that he got remarried and is planning to sell the mountain property/ski resort, Madigan Mountain, that has been in their family for generations. After their beloved mother’s death years ago, the brothers all went their separate ways and fled. Reed hasn’t been home for 10 years and is surprised when he gets to the resort and finds his college ex, Ava, working for his father.

This was a sweet second chance romance between Ava and Reed. Reed comes back to Colorado and wants to ensure his father isn’t taken advantage of with the sale of the property, when he sees Ava there things get a bit more complicated. We have a few flashback chapters between Reed and Ava when they met in college in Vermont and what split them up (the change up of writing style/POV style in these chapters kind of threw me off).

Fun moments: lots of skiing at Madigan Mountain, we get an intro to the Madigan family and I can’t wait for Reed’s brothers books already, we meet Ava’s friends Raven and Callie (the heroines of the next 2 books).

CW: alcoholism (side character), miscarriage

Reed & Ava

Im a sucker for second chance romance and Sarina once again did not disappoint! Reed’s family fell apart when his mother died but it took years for Reed to realize how much it affected him deep down. Reed met Ava in college and fell in love but after a tragedy, he doesn’t know how to deal so he breaks up with her. Reed moves to Silicone Valley making a name for himself, while Ava finds her way to Madigan Mountain, Reed’s home. Ava becomes the manager of the family business that Reed’s dad runs after overcoming his own heartache of losing the love of life. When the opportunity to sell the business arises, Reed comes home and gets the surprise of his life with Ava there. This is not only a story of second chances for this couple but Reed all around. Im excited to read the other brother’s stories for this series!!
