Slave of the New Confederacy

When Grace gets invited to an ‘experience’ south of the Mason-Dixon line, she’s more than a bit skeptical. She’s never visited the Confederate States of America in her life. But when her best friend talks her into going, she gets cautiously excited. It’s supposed to be a fun, enlightening experience, the likes of which she’s never contemplated.

It was supposed to be a day-trip, a fun and enlightening lark with friends from high school. But Grace’s world was shattered when she was pressed into the New Confederacy’s centuries-old system of human bondage. Now she finds herself being prepared to be auctioned to the highest bidder. For what purposes, she can only guess. None of them good.

Grace has been delivered to the Athens Club, an exclusive group of rich men in Georgia. Men who take a special delight in owning and training girls from up North. Girls who have no experience with the slave industry. Girls like Grace, who is new to all this. But not for long.

Grace has been with almost every member of the Athens Club before her debut is complete. And she proves to be one of the most requested slaves of the dozens they own. But the club’s goal is not to own her for too long. Its goal is to sell her to the highest bidder. Of which there are, not surprisingly, many. But only one will succeed.

Grace’s life in the Anderson household is predictable and painful but not without merit. She is one of five slaves owned and stabled on the beautiful, sprawling estate. She’s well-fed, housed, even allowed to be intimate with other slaves. But she knows her best friend is nearby. She saw her on the street.

When Grace is shipped off to the Clayton plantation in Alabama, she finds her circumstances have changed dramatically. In some ways better but in other ways, worse. At least until things change again. In a shocking turn of events. Even for Grace.
