Finnegan Quick is terrified to go to sleep. He’s haunted by terrible nightmares. Nightmares that come alive and consume the people he loves one by one. They’ve already taken his mom, his dad, his dog, and even his shadow. And now they’re coming for his gran, the only family he has left. Then a mysterious girl starts appearing in his dreams, helping Finn fight back against the creatures haunting him. Finn is sure she’s a figment of his imagination—until she turns up at his school and tells Finn that she knows how to rescue his parents.

To discover the truth of his parents’ disappearance, Finn investigates the paranormal with his best friends, Squid and Cass. Their only lead is a mysterious urban legend about a girl in Ireland whose body remained perfect, even after death.
