  • The Worst Ever Interview Questions
    Feb 11 2025

    In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some personal experience stories about the worst ever interview questions I’ve been asked!

    In this episode I discuss why the quality of the questions we ask at interview count so much, and how the quality of the questions determine the quality of the information we gain from applicants.

    I then share 5 thought starters to help you when thinking about when curating your questions for any interviews you may be conducting.

    Finally, I share the worst types of questions I think you can ask, and offer some reframes as to what you might want to ask instead.

    If you’d like to ask questions or start a discussion about interview questions, I have an invitation for you.

  • 3 Common but Avoidable Hiring Mistakes
    Feb 4 2025

    Hello, and welcome to Episode 257 of the People Powered Business Podcast!

    In today’s episode I am sharing 3 common but completely avoidable hiring mistakes that businesses make.

    The 3 big mistakes are:

    Lacking Clarity – when you are not clear on the specifics of the role, and the ideal applicant you are looking for, it’s impossible to attract the right people, and repel the wrong ones;

    Rushing the Process – not putting appropriate time, energy, expertise and resources into a recruitment project is another common mistake. Hiring well takes time, knowledge and energy.

    Failing to Reference and Background Check Effectively – quality reference checking processes remain the most effective way to assess a candidates work history, but few people do them effectively.

    These are certainly not the only hiring mistakes, but they are three of the most common, and as you can see they are all easy to avoid.
