    Dec 21 2024

    **Re-release**

On today's episode, Jana and Reata discuss their favorite verses and tangible takeaways from the Book of Matthew. Reata shares how Matthew Chapter 15 makes her use scripture as a mirror to see what is in her heart, as well as how our speech is a reflection of what is in our heart. Jana shares how Matthew Chapter 6 helps her overcome struggles with being a natural saver and to prioritize letting go of money so that money does not own her. Lastly, Reata recalls a busy time in her life that left her feeling exhausted when she found Matthew 27:32 which transformed her mindset on letting go of her pride and accepting help from others.

    Verses Mentioned and Referenced:

    Matthew 15:17-20
17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

    Matthew 6:19-21
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

    Matthew 27:32
32 As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.

  • **Re-release: The Heart - Fruits versus Works**
    Dec 14 2024

    **Re-release**

On today's episode, Jana and Reata contrast the works of the flesh with the fruits of the spirit. Opening with scripture from Galatians, they discuss the importance of knowing God's word in order to utilize these fruits to overcome the desiress of the flesh in your daily life.

Reata recaps Psalm 51 (the ending verse Jana referenced in the previous episode) providing context and background behind David's prayer of repentance for his actions with Bathsheba. Jana connects this scripture with her personal struggles with honesty and commitment early in her and Jordan's relationship. She also shares how Jordan showed tremendous grace despite her shortcomings and how owning up to her mistakes helped her learn how to "live in the light" instead of hiding secrets in the darkness.

Additionally, they discuss the idea that God sees things in us that we do not see and he wants to bring them out. Lastly, Reata shares a quote, "God doesn't call the qualified. He qualifies the called."

    Verses Mentioned:

    Galatians 5:16
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

    Psalm 51:10
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

  • **Re-release Spiritual Warfare - Forces of Darkness**
    Dec 7 2024

    **Re-release**

On today's episode, Jana and Reata introduce the topic of spiritual warfare and delve into the origination of the forces of darkness. At the top of the episode, Reata asks Jana to share her current understanding of the enemy and dark forces. Afterwards, Reata delves deep into some of her findings/research on the origin of dark forces and the fall of Satan. She elaborates on three rebellions; the rebellion of Satan in the garden of Eden, the rebellion of the spiritual beings (Watchers) leaving their post in the time of Noah, and the rebellion of the spiritual beings over the nations at of Babel. Throughout the examples, Reata emphasizes, with scripture, how these rebellions always initiates in the heart; just as Satan's rebellion began in his heart. Additionally, she poses the question, "Why should we be concerned with the topic of rebellion and the earthly and spiritual realms?"

In concluding thoughts, Reata raises awareness to the fact that we have an enemy and that Jesus' example teaches us how to fight against him and other forces of darkness. Yet, she reminds us that scripture proclaims that with Jesus we have already won the battle.

    Questions to ponder:
"If we are called to fight, what are fight against? How do we fight?"
"If we are more than conquerors, what are we conquering?" "If the first of the ten commandments is not to have other gods before the one true God, who are these other gods?" "Was Pentecost the restoration of the nations that were divided during Babel?"

    Scripture Mentioned:

    Ephesians 6:12-20 NIV
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Romans 8:31-39 NIV More than Conquerors
    37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Isaiah 13-14
    Psalm 82
    Psalm 89
    Genesis 6
    2 Peter 2:4
    1 Enoch 6-16
    Genesis 6:1-4
    2 Peter 2:1-10
    Jude 5-7
