  • S2 Ep249: What's Brewing Tampa Bay? Voodoo Brewing Co. Opens in DTSP
    Nov 20 2024
In this episode of What's Brewing Tampa Bay, host Nanette Wiser discovers a new craft brew pub just around the corner from studio. Voodoo Brewing Co. owner Bob Skepnek combines a decades-long passion for craft beer with his entrepreneurial drive. As a resident of Lutz, Florida, Bob brings a unique background as an electronic design engineer and general manager, with over 30 years in the manufacturing industry, to his new venture at 220 4th St North in downtown St. Pete. He has been brewing his own beer since the 1980s and saw Voodoo Brewing as the perfect opportunity to make a career change when he and his wife relocated from Chicago to Florida...and he made sure that an authentic Chicago Bear slow roasted beef sandwich with sweet or hot peppers, topped with cheddar or mozzarella, is on the menu. Lots of tvs for sports, an arcade for gamers and a full bar open to the street make this a popular after-work hang-out. Sip the big brown ale or Belgian white; there are so many well-balanced brews and ciders to choose from. Especially delicious are the house smoked wings, beer mussels (chorizo and lime!) and a garlic pesto pickle pizza with Voodoo's Voo-Dill seasoning. Check out the food menu, beer menu, and cocktail menu. https://saintpetersburg.voodoobrewery.com/

  • S2 Ep247: THE ART OF MEMOIR Kerry Kriseman Shares Holiday Memory Ideas & Gifts
    Nov 20 2024
Accidental First Lady author Kerry Kriseman consults on memoir writing, helps authors market their books and teaches workshops. Nanette Wiser caught up with her before the holidays to chat about how to share and make new memories, perhaps craft a holiday gift with a simple cookbook (recipes with a little story) or a family memory album (Shutterfly) that can inspire family to talk about their memories, and get to know each other again across the miles and smiles of the holiday table. Kerry also talked to the USF St. Pete campus newspaper staff (The Crow) about how good interview questions and researching people's histories can transform a good article into a great one! Kerry has been busy this fall, and appeared at the St. Pete Beach Library Author Showcase and the Louisville Book Festival. "I enjoyed serving on a panel with 4 memoirists, met Hank the Horse, and enjoyed chatting with authors and readers. I love talking memoir, and the panel format allowed each of us to share our varied paths to memoir, what inspired us to write, and how we navigated the emotions and often-winding path to publication.
