  • You're only limited by what you think you're limited by - Tom Rushton Top Podcast

    Tom Rushton is a coach at Energy Standard and has been at his post since May 2017. In past years, Tom spent 4 years as a club coach in western Canada, 2 years at the University of British Columbia as an age-group coach and 4.5 years in Montreal as an NTC coach. Under his care, 100% of his athletes from the coaching clubs became graduating athletes and went on to swim in universities. Coach Rushton also managed to coach a few of his athletes to the 2016 summer Olympics. A large variety of Tom's athletes managed to be selected to represent Canada at championship swim meets. In 2016, Tom also coached a female athlete who successfully broke the Canadian record in the 400m Free (SCM) at only 17 years of age.

  • Swimmers are the hardest working lazy people around - Jeff Julian Top Podcast

    At the time of this recording, Jeff Julian was the Trojan assistant coach for USC.

    Coach Julian is an eight-time All-American, head coach at Rose Bowl Aquatics, and was named as the head coach for ISL’s Cali Condors. He is not currently coaching after being diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in October. You can follow his updates on his blog linked below.

    Jeff also has experience as a team captain and NCAA and Olympic Trials. Coach Julian has been heavily involved in the swimming community for more than three decades. He has served on the Southern California Swimming Board of Directors, was the Pacific Committee Chairperson since 2006 and was a USA Swimming National Select Camp Assistant Coach. In his swimming days, Julian was a 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials finalist in the 200m fly, finishing sixth. His eight All-American honors were highlighted by a second-place finish in the 200y fly at the 1997 NCAA Championships. He was a seven-time Pac-10 finalist, culminating with his conference crown in the 200y fly in 1997.

  • There was a standard for work I needed to learn - Norm Wright Top Podcast

    At the time of this recording, Norm Wright was the head coach and CEO of the Northern Kentucky Clippers. He is currently the Associate Head Coach/Senior Gold for NOVA of Virginia. Coach Norm is in the top 3 percent of coaches due to his ASCA Level 5 coach rank.

    Norm spent 4 seasons with the Clippers and within his first 3 seasons, he managed to provide 6 swimmers with the opportunity to swim at the 2016 Olympic Trials. Along with various competitive success, Wright implemented the "Clippers Development Model" to the organization. The "Clippers Development Model" is a concerted effort between the Clippers Board of Directors, the lead coaching staff, and USA Swimming to apply long-term athlete development principles in a way that resonates with the culture of swimming in Northern Kentucky and surrounding areas. Prior to Coach Wright’s arrival in Kentucky, he served as the Head Coach of the Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club (SMAC) and Director of Competitive Swimming and Aquatics at the Waynesboro Family YMCA. Wrights coaching tenure includes stops at Georgetown University, the FISH, Coffman YMCA, Lima YMCA, and Asbury University his alma mater, class of 2003.
