Safe and Secure in the Power of God

  • Summary

  • By Darcie Fuqua

"He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it. He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness. The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke. By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces. By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent. And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?" -Job 26: 7-14, NIV

In this episode, we recount a moment of awe and reverence as we stood in the damp grass of an open field, witnessing the breathtaking northern lights. The scientific explanation of this phenomenon fades in comparison to the incomprehensible power of our Creator, who fills the dark sky with dancing shades of green, red, and white. This extraordinary feat of nature reminded us of God's magnificent presence, inspiring us to offer praise and thanks for His wondrous creations.

Have you ever found yourself marveling at the sheer beauty of a moment or feeling the all-consuming presence of God? Perhaps you've experienced something so powerful and miraculous that it left you with an unexplainable sense of wonder and peace. In this episode, we reflect on how easy it is to forget these divine encounters during challenging times, often taking matters into our own hands instead of seeking God's guidance and wisdom. Through the story of Job, we explore how remembering God's faithfulness and sovereignty can bring comfort and assurance, even in the face of adversity.

As we grow in our faith, we learn to surrender our chaos and confusion to God, inviting the power of the Holy Spirit into our lives to restore peace. Like Job, we can find refuge in knowing that our mighty God, who holds the world in His hands, loves and cares for us. We encourage you to spend time outside this week, marveling at God's majestic works, and to remember His deeds through journaling, reading the Word, and prayer. Join us as we meditate on Psalm 77:11-12 and remind ourselves that God has never failed us and never will.
