  • Stop Drinking and Create the Life You Love! Hey Sister! Do you find yourself saying, “I need to get control of my drinking?” Do you google “How to know if I’m drinking too much” or “Am I an alcoholic?” Feeling stressed most of the time? Is your health going downhill and it makes you feel like crap? Is your anxiety through the roof, so much that you wake up at 3am with your heart racing and thinking negative thoughts about yourself? You hide it well. Not many people know. You show up for work, you workout (sometimes), you walk around with a smile on your face for the world to see and meanwhile you think... I wish I was a better mom… I want to be a better person. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I just quit? Yet you still crave that next drink, feel like a failure, and sometimes you wonder who you’ve become. You are sick of this cycle with alcohol and you wish you could get your drinking under control. Girl, I see you and I get you! I’m Michelle Porterfield, a Stop Over Drinking and Transormational Results Coach. For so many years I experienced all of this. I was so afraid of what my life would look like alcohol-free. How would I have fun? What would I tell everyone? How would I travel without a drink in my hand? How would I handle stress? I got to a point where I was sick of being stuck. I had tried to stop drinking and I had failed too many times. I made the choice to choose something different – me. It wasn’t easy, it took surrender, daily awareness, new routines, getting honest with myself, and learning to actually feel my emotions instead of stuffing them down… oh…and lots of grace. Friend, it was so worth it. My life was truly transformed on the other side of drinking. And yours can be too. Here‘s the deal: Drinking less is just the first step! I believe that‘s why it can be scary. We know deep down there’s more. Once we see what’s underneath the alcohol, true freedom is found. I am here to help you do just that. So if you’re ready to get out of the daily cycle that leads you to drink, learn why you do the things you do and how to change them, calm your anxiety, cultivate healthy relationships, love and value yourself again, reignite your faith, and create a life of fulfillment. • 307 \\ 10 ways to overcome stress and overwhelm this holiday season.
    Nov 25 2024

My dear friends, this episode is packed with the top tips I've learned for navigating the holiday season with more peace, joy, and freedom. As someone who has transformed my own relationship with the holidays, I'm so passionate about supporting you in doing the same.

    Let's dive in:

    1. Managing Social Pressure Without Alcohol: Learn to confidently say "No, thank you" when offered a drink. I've got your back with practical strategies like bringing your own mocktail or non-alcoholic option to avoid that peer pressure.

    2. Coping with Emotional Triggers: The holidays can bring up a lot of unresolved emotions. I encourage you to journal, reflect, and communicate your feelings to your loved ones. This will help you process those triggers in a healthy way.

    3. Setting Healthy Boundaries: Don't be afraid to ask for help and delegate tasks, my friends. Protecting your time and energy is crucial during this busy season.

    4. Embracing Imperfection: Let go of the need for everything to be Pinterest-perfect. Focus on what truly matters most to you and your family.

    5. Prioritizing Self-Care: Make time for quiet moments, nourishing meals, and restorative rest. Your mental and physical health should be the priority, always.

    6. Rebuilding Alcohol-Free Traditions: Get creative, y'all! Explore new ways to celebrate the holidays that bring you joy, without relying on alcohol.

    7. Staying Present and Navigating Family Dynamics: Practice active listening and choose your words wisely when interacting with loved ones. This will help you stay centered.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone seeking to approach the holiday season with more intention and freedom. I'm here to inspire you and provide the practical wisdom you need to create the holiday experience you truly desire.

  • 306 \\ Feeling stuck and lonely in your marriage? Steps on learning to communicate your feelings to reconnect to those you love.
    Nov 21 2024

Hey there! In this episode, I'm diving deep into the topic of communication and how it can be a game-changer for your relationships.

I know so many of you are struggling to connect with your spouse, your adult children, or other important people in your life. The disconnect and lack of intimacy can be so painful. But I truly believe that learning to effectively communicate your feelings can transform these relationships.

I share a simple process for getting clear on your emotions, choosing the right time to have a conversation, and expressing yourself in a way that fosters understanding - not more conflict. It's not always easy, but I promise it's worth it.

You'll also hear me get vulnerable about my own journey with vulnerability and why it's been so transformative for me. Plus, I emphasize the importance of seeking support, whether that's from a counselor, coach, or trusted friend.

My hope is that this episode gives you the tools and courage to start having the conversations you've been avoiding. It's time to break the cycle of miscommunication and start rebuilding the intimacy you crave.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm here to support you.

    Blessings, Michelle

  • 305 \\ Breaking Free from Black and White Thinking: Cultivating Curiosity and Flexibility in Life.
    Nov 14 2024

    Hey my beautiful friends!

In this episode, I'm diving deep into the topic of black and white thinking - that rigid, all-or-nothing mindset that so many of us struggle with. I know it was a huge challenge for me for a long time, and I'm so passionate about helping you break free from it too.

I'll share my own personal journey of expanding my beliefs and creating new, more empowered ways of thinking. I was raised with a lot of rules and legalism, and it took me years to start seeing the gray areas, the both/ands, and all the possibilities in between the extremes.

    We'll also cover:

    - The latest update on my Facebook account drama (ugh, still can't get back in!) and how I'm staying connected with my community - An inspiring story from one of my coaching clients who's choosing not to drink during a really tough time - Practical strategies to challenge those pesky absolutes like "always" and "never" - The power of brainstorming without limits and getting diverse perspectives - Why taking breaks and reflecting on pros and cons can provide fresh clarity

Wherever you're feeling stuck in black and white thinking - whether it's in your relationships, your career, or any other area of life - I'm here to help you cultivate more curiosity, openness, and possibility.

So if you're ready to say goodbye to "this or that" for good, reach out to me at michelle@setfreesisterhood.com. I'd love to chat about how coaching can support you on your journey of personal growth and transformation.

Sending you so much love, Michelle

If you’re not religious this is not for you

I really wanted to relate to this podcast but it fees more like a sermon than a podcast about drinking. If you’re Christian however, you may really enjoy how she ties the 2 elements together.
