  • Episode 50 - The Only Things Certain in Life Are Death, Taxes, and LOSS {a conversation with Alison Marshall}
    Dec 10 2023

    Alison Marshall is a returning guest to the podcast. In her prior episode - Episode 16 - she vulnerably shared her story of grief involving the traditional AND non-traditional loss of her father, and the feelings of anger and embarrassment she felt with his loss. Now, returning to the podcast as a trained Grief Recovery Specialist, Alison dives deep into grief, and how it is the most powerful of all emotions. Tune in as Alison shares what grief really is, how it shows up, the importance in acknowledging it's presence, and the steps you can take to heal your pain.

    Alison Marshall is a registered social worker and an addictions counselor for the Canadian military. She is a mama to 2 kiddos who show her where she needs to grow everyday. She defines herself as a dreamer with a silly heart. Alison has been a social worker for almost 20 years. In her private practice - Beyond the Hour Therapy - she offers both traditional therapy and coaching services. She is a trained hypno-therapist and is also trained as a Grief Recovery Specialist.

    In this episode, Alison also talks about:

    • How grief is a normal and natural reaction to a loss of ANY kind;
    • How grief can also be described as the change or an end to a familiar pattern or behavior;
    • Many of us don't identify as grievers, but the fact is if we've been on this planet longer than 5, 6, 7 years, we've experienced loss of some kind;
    • There are over 40 different losses someone can experience;
    • When you can acknowledge the humanity of your feelings, you can move through it quickly rather than it getting stuck - when it gets stuck is when we judge it;
    • Grief contributes to mental health challenges;
    • The concept of staying in the room;
    • Your emotions ARE safe;
    • The myths about grief that we've been told;
    • There is no linear way to go through grief;
    • The Grief Recovery Method and how it helps release you from your pain.

  • Episode 49 - Grieving With Gratitude {a conversation with Conway}
    Dec 3 2023

    In this episode, Conway dives into the brutal wake up call she faced in the depths of her father's unexpected passing, and the choices she made to completely change the trajectory of her life. Join us for this real & raw conversation as Conway reveals how she went from a burnt out, broke hairdresser dependent on alcohol, to her own sugar daddy living in two states and traveling the world.

    Conway is a wealth and abundance coach, content creator, and host of the Higher.Conversations podcast. Her life was dramatically changed after her father's sudden death. She completely changed her life - from becoming sober to traveling the world solo, and creating an over six figure brand.

    In this episode, Conway also talks about:

    • How she started creating and living a life she always wanted to live;
    • To be able to look outside of yourself at anything to be grateful for, to put you back in the present moment;
    • Embodying the person you want to become;
    • When you change the context of why you're doing something, it gives it meaning and value;
    • When you realize you're creating the shit in your life you don't want, you also realize you have the power to create what you actually do want;
    • At the end of the day, you have to love yourself more than anything else;
    • Only 20% of the population is self-aware;
    • Boundaries will lead to peace and ease;
    • If you are a liability, you will spend your money on liabilities;
    • It's not about the money, it's about your mindset and what you believe in yourself;
    • You're beyond just a human being, you have the creative power to do and be whoever you want;
    • Your story is what makes you interesting - when you get clear on your story, you get clear on your mission;
    • Don't stay small!
