Melissa starts the episode off with a bang in our first 2(!) book recommendation to pair well with the 2014 Australian horror film The Babadook. Stepping away from horror, Kevin then suggests a book that features an old curmudgeon not unlike Carl Fredricksen in Disney Pixar's 2009 film Up. On this week's episode, Kevin and his colleague Megan explore some coming of age stories on both the silver screen and the small screen. First, Megan looks at some of her favorite 80's rom-coms including "Sixteen Candles", "Pretty in Pink", and "Can't Buy Me Love" before jumping into a novel devoted to rom-coms. Kevin then takes us back to high school with a look at the short lived tv series "Freaks and Geeks" along with a novel focusing on another group not typically represented in the protagonist role.
