• Our time off air should teach us a profound lesson about Education
    Dec 13 2024
A profound THANK YOU to our great engineer Joe Sands who rearranged his schedule to drive up to Ely, then drove back to Vegas and back to get a power supply to get us back on the air! While having lunch at the best burger place in Ely, he affirmed what I said in a recent Facebook commentary. Every day, the lack of people wanting to get into trades is shocking. Finding good plumbers, mechanics, electricians is getting to be a massive challenge. Getting people to do the work is nearly impossible. He told the head of engineering for a major broadcasting chain that he can’t hire anyone under the age of 50. Because they’re all going into college path careers, not into electronics. Parents, tell your kids that the most lucrative – and most economical – path to a career does NOT involve a college degree, but into a trade.

  • Don't forget the Wind Farm Promises!
    Nov 20 2024
At a recent Ely City Council meeting a former councilman came out in favor of the boondoggle known as the White Pine Pumped Storage project. The former councilman claimed that it would bring twelve million dollars annually to the tax base. Has the former councilman forgotten the Spring Valley Wind Farm which made similar promises, then got tax abatements that essentially nullified all those promises. Plus the Wind Farm didn’t steal our water to the tune of eighteen million gallons a year. Don’t be fooled by what will no doubt be future broken promises by the carpetbaggers at r-plus hydro. I don’t always agree with the commission, but their ten page letter to federal regulators opposing the project shows they get the message. You can read the letter and get the address to write your own letter at kely 1230 dot com.

  • Make the GOP in the Reform Party's Image!
    Nov 12 2024
The future of the Republican party is in the Trump MAGA base. Having seen how popular the platform was from the inside, I can tell you that the majority of Americans are of the mold of Ross Perot’s old Reform Party, Fiscal Conservatives and Social libertarians - that is, let people live their own lives. As the producer of (Perot's) Vice Presidential Candidate Pat Choate's talk show, I saw from the inside how the Democrat and Republican parties control the system at the Federal Election Commission to suppress those outside the Big Two. Only by the groundswell of YOU, those who believe in Making America Great Again, taking control of the Republican Party and away from those RINOS, can America become prosperous and live it’s best life. Get involved with your local Republican Party and truly become the party of the people.

  • Don't like your government...how about getting involved? #PutUpOrShutUp
    Nov 8 2024
We talk about the pride of voting. The pride of being part of the process. But there is a disengagement in the number of responsible people willing to get involved in local government. Of people not tied to the local political machines and well connected churches to get involved in politics. There was only one contested race on the Ely City council, and no contested races for School board or Hospital board. But NO ONE chose to run for the Baker Sewer/Water Board, the McGill Ruth Sewer Water Board, Soil Conservation District, or the White Pine Television District. Make no mistake about it, there are a lot of people who love to complain about government, but there are fewer and fewer who want to get involved. God bless people like George Chachas who not only complain, but run. And to those of you like Ms. Pintar and Ms. Moreno who complain but do nothing, perhaps it’s time to put up or shut up.

  • Thank you for voting...HOW MANY?
    Nov 6 2024
Thank you for turning out to vote. 85.32% of white pine county registered voters -over 4200 citizens -turned out to vote in this election cycle. And with your help, Question 3 Ranked ChoiceVoting went down to defeat despite $19 million dollars of out of state money supporting it, and Question 7, Voter ID, passed. It will be on the ballot again before it goes to the constitution. Your vote is your voice, and you used it. Congratulations, and thank you for voting. .

  • Cast Your Vote EARLY! #TooBigToSteal
    Oct 24 2024
Thank you for getting out and voting early. The number of Nevadans that have taken advantage of this opportunity is gratifying and even more so to see the number of Republicans that have gotten out and cast ballots. If you have not voted yet, get out and vote. Each ballot is one more round in the chamber we need to take our state and country back from those who do not believe in American Values. Please vote.

  • Early Voting is underway! Vote now! #TooBigToSteal
    Oct 20 2024
Early voting is underway. It’s important that you get to the polls and cast your votes now. You can and should carry your mail ballot and take it directly to the County Clerk's office, or go in and cast your ballot and don’t wait for election day. Vote NO on every question except question 7. I voted for one Libertarian, Doug Saunders, because of issues with the Republican in that race, but by and large, I voted a straight conservative ticket. I hope you will too.

By the way, to those of you complaining about the liberal commercials you hear broadcast on this station? Thanks to the RINO businesses- the Gianolis and Baths - and other small businesses who refuse to invest the equivalent of a cup of coffee a day to advertise here, I have to take those commercials. Goodwill doesn’t pay the power bill. I hope you understand.
