  • Summary

  • Welcome to Impact Talks! The brand new podcast brought to you by Haymarket Media Group. Each month we'll be sharing our latest Impact updates, speaking to some of the most influential people in the sustainability space and focusing on sharing advice, tips and insights on how we can positively contribute to the future of our planet.

Briefly, for those of you who don’t know, we recently launched Haymarket Impact to accelerate our global sustainability, DEI and social impact agenda under one unified framework. We have always taken sustainability in all its forms seriously, but the world is behind schedule to meet 2030 targets and as a business we can, and must do more in this ‘Decade of Action’.

Haymarket Impact aligns itself closely with those United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where we feel we can make the most positive difference right now. Head to https://haymarket.com/impact/ to learn more.

As part of Haymarket’s celebration of Pride Month 2024, and in alignment with UN SDG 4: Quality Education, UN SDG 5: Gender Equality, our commitment to DEI, we hear from a selection of journalists around the world, to delve into some of their LGBTQIA+ related content. Tara finds out more about their work, its impact, the inspiration behind it and any stereotypes of misconceptions they challenged.

At the same time, it is a powerful reminder of their resilience and strength. So many have fought, and continue to fight for their rights and acceptance in society. • International Women's Day 2024 at Haymarket
    Mar 8 2024

The theme for this year’s International Women's Day is inspire inclusion. There shouldn’t be just one day a year to shine a spotlight on the power of inclusion in driving positive change for women everywhere, but International Women's Day serves as a really important moment to reflect, educate and learn about the ongoing journey towards gender equality and inclusivity. Because unfortunately, we really still aren’t there yet.

At Haymarket, we have just celebrated the one year anniversary of our revamped global sustainability agenda - Impact, which is centred closely around the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In just a year we’ve managed to achieve some pretty big milestones, including a global content audit of our 70+ brands, to measure how our external voice is aligned with our Impact agenda.

One of the SDGs Impact aligns closely with is Gender Equality - and our content audit has captured various pieces of work relating to this.

Whether it’s written articles, campaigns, events, awards or educational resources, they cover everything from celebrating women, recognising female talent, breaking down stereotypes, calling out inequalities and much more.

In our final instalment for the week, Tara Geoghegan, Impact Manager, is joined by Rahat Kapur, editor of Campaign Asia-Pacific, Ramu Ramanathan, editor of PrintWeek India and Lauren Burke, Vice President of Content for Haymarket Medical Network.

Then in part two, Haymarket's global CTO, Richard Harding is joined by the wonderful Lexie Papaspyrou, Head of Product at the Tech Talent Charter, which Haymarket is a proud member of.

Lexie references it, so make sure you have a read of the Tech Talent Charter's latest Diversity in Tech report.

And of course, Happy International Women's Day 2024 to you all!

So we thought, why not dive into some of the stories behind the headlines?

In episode two, we’ve gone a bit car mad, and you'll be hearing from our automotive teams in the UK and India.

I don’t think many people would contest the claim that there’s still work to be done with achieving gender parity in the automotive industry. But that makes it all the more important to celebrate and raise awareness of the progress that has been made.

We hear from Mark Tisshaw, Editor of Autocar, Ayisha Gharu, Social Media Manager for What Car?, Georgia Patmore, Social Media Executive for Autocar and Renuka Kirpalani, Host and Editor of the Autocar Show in India.
