Dr. Hamid Mirshojae and his new wife have a six-month-old daughter. He also has three children from a previous marriage which ended with an ugly divorce and legal wrangling that has continued for 15-years.

Dr Hamid Mirshojae and his first wife, Ahang Kelk Mirshojae, began divorce proceedings in 2009 when the doctor applies for a restraining order against his wife to keep her away from their $6 million dollar marital home. In the petition, Dr Mirshojae says the divorce is "due to physical violence" accusing Ahang of punching him repeatedly. Legal wrangling continue since. Ahang Mirshojae runs the office of the Woodland Hills Medical clinic and remains an employee of the facility after their divorce until 2016 when Dr Mirshojae reportedly catches his ex-wife embezzling substantial sums of money from the Clinic.

Dr. Hamid Mirshojae continues with his standard practice An hour after closing Woodland Hills Medical Clinic and Urgent Care for the day, Mirshojae is ambushed by a masked gunman near the Doctor's SUV around 5:30pm. The LAPD arrives 42 minutes later to find the 61-year-old primary care and emergency physician suffering a gunshot wound to the back of the head. He is pronounced dead on the scene. Police say there is only one gunman and he fled on foot. The investigation leads police to his ex-wife.
