• Nebraska vs USC Preview with Tim Prangley - A New QB, A New OC - What might happen?
    Nov 12 2024

Matt Rhule announced today in his Monday press conference that Dana Holgorsen will be the offensive coordinator and calling plays for the rest of the 2024 season. This leads to a lot of speculation and wondering - what will the Nebraska offense look like?

USC quarterback, Miller Moss, was replaced by Jaden Maiava for the Nebraska game. Miller Moss has entered the transfer portal and left the program. Top bidders so far are Michigan and Oregon. What’s the USC take on this?

Both teams will enter the USA game, Nebraska vs USC game this weekend, with a lot of intrigue and nobody will know what’s going to happen.

Dylan Raiola’s injury is up in the air. Rhule says he “might” practice tomorrow. We might see Heinrich Haarberg start. Rhule might just be messing with USC as it is time to pull all the stops out.

We’re going to talk to Tim Prangley about his USC fighting Trojans people and get their side of what’s going on with their program.

  • Corn Nation Overreaction: Nebraska’s Bye Week Wasn’t Boring
    Nov 11 2024

This week was a quasi-special episode because we didn’t have a game to break down, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have news.

On the Corn Nation Overreaction this week, Greg, Hoss, and Jake discuss the additions made to the coaching staff last week as Dana Holgorsen and Phil Snow arrived in Lincoln.

Snow is a defensive guru who has been coaching football for 47 years. He will provide Tony White with another seasoned perspective to get the Blackshirts, who are still very good - in the top 25 in most defensive categories, performing at a level they were at last year.

Holgorsen comes to Nebraska with objective success at the collegiate level, being either Offensive Coordinator or Head Coach at schools with prolific offenses in the last 15 years. Will he be able to assist OC Marcus Satterfield in strategic game planning to result in that elusive sixth win and subsequent bowl eligibility?

Our game predictions are at the end, and as our departed brother Brian Towle would say, “win the damn game.”

  • Five Heart: Are we still the #1 fan base in college football?
    Nov 8 2024

Vince Lombardi said “Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”

Nebraska Cornhusker fans have seen their fair share of losses. Yet we continue to show up for every game and support our team, through it all. We just want to see Huskers take the field and play with heart!

The birth of Five Heart came from the famed Tunnel Walk “I Play For Nebraska” in 2006, when Brandon Rigoni (aka the ‘Missile’) spoke the words ”Heart is finding the strength to run down the field one more time when you can barely breathe.”

We show up every week for our team with support. We travel to games, we take off of work, we even enlist friends, family members and neighbors to join with us.

The thrill of watching our team take the field, pumped up, and playing their hearts out makes us part of something so special that we will tolerate just about anything for it.

Join in on Thursday’s Live Stream as we discuss our unique Nebraska fan experiences As well as the new staff additions. This will be one show, you won’t want to miss.

We apologize for the scheduling conflict with Husker Volleyball as the ladies play Oregon at the same time as the stream. Unfortunately, alternate times were not available this week.

  • HUSKERS HAPPY HOUR: We Hired a Consultant…and UCLA Happened
    Nov 7 2024

We had plenty on the plate Tuesday, thanks to the announcement of offensive whiz Dana Holgorsen’s hire as an “offensive consultant”. We covered his history and expectations at Nebraska, the UCLA game and, as always, our viewers let fly in the comments about that and other things including:

    • a recap of UCLA and the numbers which stuck out including the tale of two halves and the Huskers holding the ball for 21 1⁄2 minutes over two drives and getting nothing to show for 2nd half those drives
    • should Dana be required to cut his hair?
    • is this unofficially the end of Satterfield?
    • are we switching to Air Raid immediately? (Um, no)
    • does this mean the running game is gone? (Um, no again, see Dana Holgorsen, Okie State)
    • should Dylan Raiola be benched? (For the love of gawd…)
    • coming unhinged in bars during football and my story of potential remorse the day after the Covid Rutgers game. (Turned out I was ok….mostly)
    • a new finishing segment in which I offer an affirmation and goals for any, let’s say, lovers of happy hours who are looking to attain legendary status.

Click on the link below to enjoy last night’s show - or rewatch if you really are the sick and deviant beast we crave as a watcher. HAPPY BYE WEEK!

  • Monday Night Therapy: Big Ten Volleyball Update and what happened against UCLA....
    Nov 5 2024

Tonight, our volleyball writer, Beth Merrigan will join us and we will have a volleyball update and it will be something nice and positive to talk about rather than what’s going on with the noise and screaming around the football team. The month of November is a huge month for the Nebraska volleyball team as they try to stay in the fight for a Big Ten Volleyball Championship. They have some amazing matches coming up and I’m sure we’ll talk about them.

On the football front, there’s all sorts of things to discuss such as how crappy Nebraska played against UCLA, how bad the offense looks, what Matt Rule said today about firing Marcus Satterfield in his press conference.

Join us for all that and more!

  • Corn Nation Overreaction: UCLA loss, where do we go from here?
    Nov 4 2024

This week on the Overreaction show, Greg, Hoss and Jake will discuss the UCLA loss yesterday 27-20.

What went right and wrong? How could the Huskers trail the entire game against a team they were favored to beat?

Hoss, has some interesting praise to hand out but not to anyone who wears scarlet and cream.

Yes, injuries have began to pile up for the Huskers but does that mean that we are destined for another bowl-less season?

We’ll have Risers and Fallers, award game balls and since this show will be live, we will take as many of your comments as we can.

  • Five Heart | ITS HALLOWEEN AND NEBRASKAS CHANCE TO GO BOWLING
    Nov 1 2024

I haven’t felt this excited since I was a kid going trick-or-treating on Halloween. Nebraska has a real chance to make it to a bowl game and win the rest of the games on their schedule.

Why, do we have so much optimism? One word “Ohio”. Winning at Ohio was certainly well within our grasp. The game that all Husker fans had circled on their calendar as the game Nebraska would lose... We played like CHAMPIONS!

I’ve never been so proud to wear a Husker jersey as I walked out of that Ohio State Stadium last Saturday. With my head held high and smiling, I sensed what could be.

Please join us this week as we prepare to play UCLA Bruins for the first time in the Big Ten. Come ready to celebrate Halloween as we do it the best way we know, by talking Husker Football.

  • HUSKERS HAPPY HOUR: Are We Jekyll or Hyde This Week? (And Heck, Yeah, We’ll Talk about the Refs)
    Oct 30 2024

On Huskers Happy Hour tonight at 8PM, we’ll talk about this weekend’s opponent, the UCLA Bruins and which Huskers team will show up to take a third consecutive swing at bowl eligibility and that elusive 6th victory.

Two weekends ago, the Huskers were shellacked 56-7 by then #22 Indiana, but the rebounded last weekend in a tight 21-17 to loss to #4 Ohio State, their trash-throwing Texas-copying fans and the foul Big 10 refs. The defense finally got top tier performance against a quality top-6 offense and nearly stole a huge upset in Columbus.

Ah, yes, the B1G and their big-program-protecting zebras finally got called out on a national level after another perversion of unbiased refereeing to where the league actually felt the pressure…and apologized for one of their multiple egregious and likely very intentional “errors”.

Yep, we’ll chat a bit about that as well.
