Acerca de esta escucha

New York Times bestselling author Ruth Ware proves that she is the “new Agatha Christie” (Air Mail) with this adrenaline-fueled thriller about a woman in a race to clear her name and find her husband’s murderer.

Hired by companies to break into buildings and hack security systems, Jack and her husband, Gabe, are the best penetration specialists in the business. But after a routine assignment goes horribly wrong, Jack arrives home to find her husband dead. To add to her despair, the police are closing in on their suspect—her.

Suddenly on the run and quickly running out of options, Jack must decide who she can trust as she circles closer to the real killer in this unputdownable and heart-pounding mystery that combines Mr. and Mrs. Smith with The Fugitive from an author whose “propulsive prose keeps readers on the hook and refuses to let anyone off until all has been revealed” (Shelf Awareness).

Now how long do I have to wait for the next Ruth Ware book! I was hooked on this one from the beginning and all the way to the end. Again the narration by Imogen Church was fantastic.

Just so awesome!

Ruth Ware is one of my favorite writers. I think she knows how to make a setting perfectly atmospheric and suited to the plot. I’ve always found her characters smartly written and intriguing. Her stories are up-all-night and just-one-more-page suspenseful.

This isn’t it. I literally counted down the days intil this release, and I am so disappointed. It was just a lot of running around and placing one obstacle after another in a foot race to a finish line that was too long in coming (and mind you, I was thrilled at the prospect of a run time of over 13 hours before I started this audiobook), yet spotted from miles and miles away. As others have said, there was a lot of repetition of phrase and scenarios. I can’t believe I’m saying this about a Ruth Ware book, but it was boring. And to top it off, Imogen Church, normally my favorite narrator, didn’t do the uninteresting characters any favors this time. Truly, a waste of a credit I held onto just for this book.

So, so bummed

Once I started, had a hard time putting it down. The story is fast paced, has a few good twists, and Imagen’s performance is perfect (again!).

Gripping

Overall I enjoyed the listen, love a good thriller. It was non-stop action, kind of exhausting at times. A bit of down time would have helped break up the action. The narrator was in danger 100% of the time. Very unrealistic, imo. And the ending made it seem even more unbelievable.

A bit drawn out

I really really enjoyed this book (I’ve read all of Ware’s).

The balls to the wall intensity was kind of refreshing, as many books claim to be twisty and heart-wrenching but really are not, even if we’ll written. However, I could have used more flashbacks about the relationship between Gabe and the protagonist. They had something pretty cool, and unique, that I’d have like to read more about. The ending def pulled tears from me.. perfectly and beautifully bitter-sweet.

There were at least three pivotal “twists” that I called as soon as they were introduced. Granted, making those kinds of predictions is a game that I take very seriously! Lol

The phrase, “I felt sick”, and other various iterations, like, “I thought I was going to puke,” were way overused. I get what this was meant to convey, but there are other ways to show the varied physical and emotional nuances of situations. A death, for example, is obviously far different than a dreadfully important setback.

All in all really good “read.”

Great

Another great story. It didn’t have the huge twist that some of her books have, but I don’t think it was supposed to. It was more seeing how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together to create the end result. What a heartwarming conclusion. The team of Ruth Ware’s writing and Imogen Church’s narration did it again. Worth the listen!

The opening sequence was a great, propulsive read, but then things bogged way down. Enjoyed the heck out of Jack’s misadventure in the first chapter, but the prose and the story lose a lot of momentum and fall into cliche (does anyone believe a thuggish character who opens with “Well, well, well…”?)

Starts strong, then wilts.

The 13+ hours went so fast, I fully recommend Zero Days as well as all of the other Ruth Ware audiobooks.

Loved it!!

This book felt very different compared to Ruth Ware's other works. It wasn't my favorite of hers, but I didn't hate it either. Parts of it felt too fast, almost like I skipped a step. I enjoyed the opening chapters the most and wish the rest of the book would have followed.

Good-ish
