Evelyn enjoyed living a nice quiet life in an anarchic pirate port, far from the world she’d once conquered. Then came an attack by mercenaries that made her angry. By the time the dust settled, she had a group of former slaves which she’d freed, her djinn assistant had convinced several of the women that they should join Evelyn’s brand-new harem, and she was looking for a new home, likely aboard a ship.

Ryana, a worthless girl-child, is sold to a mysterious woman who takes her to the home of the Shadow Sisters who are prized for their abilities as spies and assassins. She survives years of training in spite of being unconventional: adopting poisonous bats as familiars - something no one else would dare to do; choosing the blow dart as her weapon of choice - a weapon the Sisters don't teach; and relying on intuition rather than logic. As she completes her training, the Shadow Sisters are under attack and send Ryana out to find out who is killing Sisters and why.

Few people know the name Vesper Quill. To most folks, I’m just a lowly lab rat who designs brewmakers and other household appliances in the research-and-development lab at the powerful Kent Corp. Childish Writer Rant

By: Bob Mauldin
Publisher's summary
Today, people and groups who disagree on an issue are less likely to send threatening letters, hold demonstrations, or riot. They are more likely to hire professional assassins to resolve the issue.
The government has experienced an increasing number of assassinations: members of Congress, government agencies, and VIPs. Desperate, Congress directed the creation of an Anti-Terrorist Group and gave Home Land Security two and one-half years to produce the first anti-terrorist agents.
The new directors managed to meet the deadline and graduate four agents, but now came the real test. Can the new graduates meet Congress's expectations to stop professional assassins from killing those individuals the agents are assigned to protect?
This is especially true of graduates like Kate Mathis, a party girl who has a pattern of not being able to make up her mind about what she wants to do with her life.
This novel was a finalist in the ACTION / ADVENTURE Category of the 2016 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
Author's note: a rewrite of this novel was used to create Book III, Megan, in the Kazak Series.

Their race is universally hated due to their lust for destruction, bloodshed, and world domination, so, he’s understandably a bit irritated. His buddy Chip and his Rainbow Unicow Bessie, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier. Extreme violence is right up Chip’s alley and seeing as Bessie has gotten a taste for human flesh, she’s totally up for the bloodshed bit.

A repackaged Kazak Guardians Megan with a new title
Like the title states, it is basically a repackaged Kazak Guardian Megan. I couldn’t finish the book after listening for 2:30 hours because it was almost 1:1 to Kazak Megan. I was disappointed because I love his books, but this one was not it, would have much preferred he worked on the next Tasmanian SFG book or one of the other book series than do this one. Ill try and listen to the rest and adjust the review.
