About this listen

Dr Briana Ortiz's life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalised, her brother's running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants . . . ? Oh, that's probably going to the new man-doctor who's already registering eighty-friggin'-seven on Briana's 'pain in my ass' scale.

But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. It's a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn't actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who's terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her 'sob closet' and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses.

When Jacob turns out to be the perfect donor for her brother, Bri starts to realise that this quietly sexy new doctor might just be her perfect match, too.

Amazing and insiring story

I loved this book. It had me laughing. crying and wanting more. The relationship beteen Bri and Jocob is a love one can dream and aspire to.

The friends, family, Lt Dan and even Jafar added so much character to the novel I couldnt put the book down.

A def must read and a re-read list for me.

Honestly this story just kept getting better

Briana (Bri) was first introduced in Part of Your World so listening to his audio story was like reconnecting with a past friend once again. She works in the emergency department at a hospital and her divorce is just about final. What a shit show that relationship ended up becoming, her ex is a complete douche.

Onwards and upwards now, there is a new job on the horizon, well a promotion hopefully. She needs something good to focus on at the moment. Her younger brother is still on the waiting list for a kidney and it’s a daily battle sometimes to keep his spirits up. Time is running out though and maybe it’s time for a miracle to touch her family.

Jacob has recently transferred to said hospital and is just trying to find his feet. His first day will go down in the books at the worst he has ever had, as far as leaving an impression goes. Pretty much most of his patients died and the nurses don’t like him. Alrighty then, not the best start! And then there is Bri, beautiful and confident. She seems to take pity on him, offering him some valued advice.

Meeting Bri makes Jacob feel completely nervous and flustered. The conversation was brief but he truly appreciated that she could understand he needed it. The thought of trying to talk to her the next time he sees has his anxiety on alert. So he does the next best thing, he writes her a letter. And holy shite, isn’t that the sweetest thing a guy can do for a girl! His honesty and vulnerability is so damn adorable.

Bri is completely taken aback at first and then it becomes something she looks forward to every time they have a shift together. She even lets him spend lunch breaks in her secret cupboard, knowing he probably would enjoy the peace and solitary comfort it gives her. She understands him in a way no other woman ever has, Jacob feels so comfortable around her and he has never felt more accepted and understood.

Honestly this story just kept getting better and better for me. I listened to the audio version and I’m happy to disclose that there is an appearance by Kevin Bacon - plus Daniel & Alexis!

This author is an automatic 1-click for me and seeing as this is the second story in the Part of Your World series I had no hesitation. I knew I had to read this.

Another great Abby Jiminez book… but could the characters just have a basic conversation a little earlier?

I really enjoy Abby Jiminez’s books, have read all of her published works and would recommend them all. I would put this book in that category too and was really looking forward to its release. It was however the first during which there were parts that dragged.

Briana and Jacob become great friends and it is clear that they are a perfect match together. There are challenges with anxiety, family health issues, past relationships and entertaining family dynamics which are different for Abby Jiminez and form a great story. However, the miscommunication between Briana and Jacob and the overthinking of situations lasts for the entire book, becoming tiresome in parts. Whilst a core part of the story, it drags on at times to the point of frustration.

In saying that, I am still rating ‘Your Truly’ 3.75 stars for the character development, the overall story and Abby’s writing. Looking forward to reading her next book.

Beautiful story

Abby Jimenez never fails me, and this story was yet another proof of her ability to write irresistable, funny, touching and believable fiction like no other. I was instantly hooked on this story, because Jacob is in many ways me, only, he's more heroic, more attractive and more successful - but his social anxiety and his need to plan and prepare for everything are so familiar to me. How could I not love this book?

The narration is amazing. The plot gets pretty heavy at times, but also hilarious at other times. The ending is perfect. And for some reason, the moment Jacob befriends Brianna's cat by giving it treats under the table was the sweetest thing in the whole book, and perfectly showed, just how amazing and attentive a guy Jacob was.

So, yeah, 5 stars across the board!

Another heartwarming listen

Listening to the author note at the end of this book was the icing on the cake. Great story and characters with issues that were so worth exploring.

Lovely book - a bit sickly sweet at the end

This is a really lovely romance novel, it does get a bit sickly sweet at the end but it’s still a nice easy listen.
I like how this story was woven into “a part of your world” which was a nice surprises

Could be 1 hour short

The story, characters, narration are all good but the only problem with the book is the last 1 hour.
Spoiler Alert:
The book should have ended in the (first) wedding and we should not have seen the ex-husband's new wife's pregnant belly or wedding ring. After that scene, the main female character lost herself and the book turned into a drama not a rom-com. The story there may be the topic of another book, but not this one.
Spoiler Alert Ended:
The authors sometimes do not know the time they have to end the story and they keep writing. The editor(s) should tell them to stop.
