About this listen
You don't get what you want - you get who you are. And who you are is determined by how you think.
Most of us say we want better health, finances, and relationships. Yet, beneath the surface, we don't think we deserve it. Projecting confidence on the outside, we feel like impostors on the inside. The truth is we'll never outperform our self-image.
Author Kary Oberbrunner knows this firsthand. In this updated and expanded edition of Your Secret Name, he shares the same steps that helped him overcome a paralyzing speech disorder and an addiction to self-injury. For nearly a decade, people have benefitted from this invigorating message - finding freedom from their shame, self-limiting beliefs, and masks that kept them stuck and small.
If you're new to Your Secret Name, prepare for an uncommon quest that begins with an ancient story of envy and concludes with a fresh vision of yourself. You'll discover how to:
- Reinterpret your past, so you can stop hiding behind performance and pain
- Reconnect with your creator, core, and community, so you can live bigger and bolder without fear and self-judgment
- Reimagine a new future, so you can experience life without limits, borders, or boundaries
It's time to stop pretending, shed the labels, and discover your true identity today!

The majority of people invest more time designing a two-week vacation than designing their lives. But without a map, we coast through life feeling lost and directionless. We're already dead - we just haven't made it official. We may be tempted to downplay this trend, but there is a hefty cost. According to Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, "The most damaging thing in the life of a child is the unlived life of the parent."

Story
Whether in struggle, illness, death, or failure, the presence of pain causes us to question the presence of God. We pray and watch the sky, crossing our spiritual fingers for hardcore proof of God's nearness. And in the silence, we sense something more sinister: perceived abandonment. But what if we could collect evidence that God hasn't left us? What if we could be absolutely certain of God's presence and affection, strengthening our faith against any assault? Woven throughout Scripture sits a single, extraordinary theme: God is with us.

Story
Let's be honest: the life you're leading isn't the one you've always dreamt of. And maybe the person you've become isn't who you imagined you'd be. Sure, you can work longer, love harder, and eat better. You can scrub the surface of your life until it gleams. But that won't address the fact that you've somehow lost sight of who you really are. Working from the core message of Ephesians 1:11, Jo Saxton implores women to reject mistaken identities. Relying on personal stories from her own life, she identifies key scenarios where identities develop that are not true to God's vision, demonstrating the importance of knowing one's name, embracing the gifts you've been given, confronting body issues, managing seasons of depression and grief, and letting go of perfectionism.

Story
Words are one of the most powerful forces in the universe, and they can be used for good or evil. When God created our world, He did so with words. He said Let there be...and it was so. While our words cannot bring into existence things that are not, they do have the power to build courage into a husband's life, instill confidence into a child's heart, fan into flames the dying embers of a friend's smoldering dreams, and draw the lost to Christ. This book is for every woman who desires to use her words to build up rather than tear down....

Every one of us sooner or later walks through hell. The hell of being hurt, the hell of hurting another. The hell of cancer, the hell of a reluctant, thunking shovel full of earth upon the casket of someone we deeply loved, the hell of betrayal, the hell of betraying, the hell of divorce, the hell of a kid in trouble...the hell of knowing that this year, like any year, may be our last. We all walk through hell. The point is not to come out empty-handed.... There is real and profound power in the suffering we endure if we transform that suffering into a more authentic, meaningful life.

The most important conversation you'll have. Why do so many of our conversations with one another lead to misunderstanding and hurt feelings? Brady Boyd turns to the example of Jesus Christ to show that the health of our conversations can be only as vibrant as the health of our interactions with God. As Proverbs says, "The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" (Proverbs 12:18 niv).

Beautiful Narration and Impactful Journey!
This journey showed me that we don’t need others to tell us who we are. Each of us has been given a name and unique purpose to fulfill. I respect the author for sharing his personal story while also encouraging us to explore our own! This is a beautiful narration told with passion from one who sought and found his Name. This book has put me on a path of discovery that I know will change my life and others through me. My wish is that it will do the same for YOU!

Finding identification leads to light!
Kary shares his foundation of how he found his true identity by revealing this personal journey step by step through his carefully paced words. His story is raw, honest and filled with vulnerability. His reading and narration of such a personal journey demands of the reader/listener to reflect and find that identification within which leads them towards light. As the story unfolded, I found myself questioning, wondering, reflecting, and searching for my own secret name. Kary's book can lead you (as it did for me) to take action and create within yourself your own powerful terrifying change. Your secret name will either terrify or comfort you, but either way, it will lead to your identification and towards light.

A whole new way of seeing yourself and your life!
Do you know who you are? Whose you are? Kary leads you down the path of discovering your true identity using his own journey as an example. So often, we allow the world to tell us who we are and we allow others to define our worth rather than listening to the One who created us. Your Secret Name will take you on a journey of discovering your true worth and purpose in this life so that you can live each day as a soul on fire. I know my secret name now and it has made all the difference! Don’t waste another minute being defined by others. Discover your secret name and your purpose!

A new way of thinking
I’ve heard the Jacob and Esau story of the Bible many times, but never thought of it in the context the author uses. The story caused me to look inside myself and see where I was hiding. It’s so easy to allow fear and doubt to stop us from achieving our destiny. What name will define me and my future?

Life and Legacy Changing
"By embracing our new identity, we embrace a new destiny."- Kary Oberbrunner
I experienced Your Secret Name when it was originally published in book format. Listening to the audio provided a deeper dive, encouraging reminders, and rich insight.
If you or someone you know is struggling with their identity and worth, Your Secret Name will gently and clearly reveal who they are and whose they are.
