I Guess The 90s Never Happened..

This was an amazing book with wonderful storytelling and interesting insights into the life and career of Tom Selleck...at least until about 1988. He dives deep into his early commercials and movie roles, along with his early years and athletic career. Of course, we learn a lot about his years as Thomas Magnum, but after that it's straight to the epilogue!! He led an entire franchise as Jesse Stone and it goes UNMENTIONED.. there is no talk of his famous role in Friends... there's no insight into his filming of Mr. Baseball and his experiences in Japan.. it's really weird. It's so detailed until 1988 and even covers movies he didn't even like.. then after Magnum it jumps right to the end and he talks a little about Blue Bloods. I wouldn't call this a memoir.. more like "My Early Years." That said, I really enjoyed it.. Just really wish he maybe backed off on Magnum and added more about his work in the 90s and 2000s.

Fascinating story by a true all-around good man! I enjoyed every minute and didn’t and didn’t want it to end.

Mr. Selleck's Transparency

I truly enjoyed listening to this memoir. Tom Selleck gives off a feeling that you just connect with; like you've known him all your life. Very descriptive, with that regular, "salt-of-the-earth" guy feeling that comes from most Detroiters. Probably by way of his father's impact on his life, as Mr. Selleck had grown up in California for the better part of his life. 5 STARS, Sir!!

Be a brick layer

This book could have been much longer as far as I’m concerned. As a huge Selleck fan from my youth, I was hopeful that he would talk a tad more about Magnum and several of his movies. That is NOT a criticism of the book at all. Tom Selleck is a National Treasure as far as I’m concerned and this book was long overdue. Keep laying bricks!

Nostalgic

Magnum was my favorite show growing up, never missed an episode. Of course I fell in love head over heels with Tom Selleck too. I had a poster of him that was made for the volleyball team on my wall. I adored 3 Men & A Baby. He does such great work and his ethics show through. After listening to this, I’m going to go back and rewatch Magnum, all his movies & start Blue Bloods from the beginning. I never knew the story behind him meeting Jillie. Absolutely heartwarming.
