Acerca de esta escucha

A charmingly funny testament to second chances in life and love from the acclaimed author of Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter.

Lisa Patton won the hearts of readers with her book Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter, which became a sleeper-success. Building on a smashing debut, Lisa’s poised to go to the next level—because whether in Vermont snow or in Memphis heat, Dixie heroine Leelee Satterfield is never too far from misadventure, calamity—and ultimately, love.

Having watched her life turn into a nor’easter, 34-year-old Leelee Satterfield is back home in the South, ready to pick back up where she left off. But that’s a task easier said than done. Leelee, a single mom, still dreaming of the Vermonter who stole her heart, and accompanied by her three best friends who pepper her with advice, nudging, and peach daiquiris, opens another restaurant and learns she has to prove herself yet again. Fans of women’s fiction will delight in this novel filled with heart and humor.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Southern to the core…funny to the bone. In Lisa Patton’s new novel she proves that we can go home again, and in many cases we should.” (Fannie Flagg, New York Times best-selling author)

Not high-brow literature, but light, fun and entertaining, if a little over-the-top “cutesy” at times. As a native Memphian it’s fun to to hear about so many places I know well.

The narrator’s accent misses the mark by a long shot. There’s way more than one Southern accent, and this one is definitely not Tennessee, Memphis, or even the parts of Mississippi in the story. The bad accent is off-putting and distracting. Some pronunciations are completely off-base too. The main one being Bolivar (Tennessee), former home of the state mental institution. Anyone within 100 miles of west Tennessee could tell you the “Bol” in Bolivar sounds like ball, not like the “bol” in Bolivia.

Y’all, that is NOT a Memphis accent.

I love it when an author does a continuation in order to give a story or character some closure. Thank you Lisa, for writing this book.

Great finale

im so disappointed. I throughly enjoyed "whistling dixie in a noreaster" the first in this series. It was a cozy story about infedelity, loyalty and friendship. But this one focuses on a relationship the main charactor has with her black nanny that was "like a mother to her" it was extremely racist. The author described the nanny (named Kissy) as big lipped, round, smelling like persperation. the picture she draws is embarrassing and unnecessary. It made me uncomfortable and ruined what otherwise could have been a interesting story. The main charactor comes off as a white savior there to defend her Kissy. gross...

colonial undertones & outright racial stereotyping

I absolutely enjoyed this trilogy, but I wish this book had the same narrator as the first 2. The author did great writing the story, but she ruined the character of Peter as a narrator. Her " character accent" made him sound more like he had "Wiley's' speech impediment to me.

I preffered the narrator from the 1rst 2 books .

I love this book. A sweet story, in hard times, lifted my spirits. The whole series is wonderful. I love the writing and the morality in the books. Hope there’s another in the series.
