About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Wyrd Sisters is narrated by Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Luther; This Way Up). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'Destiny is important, see, but people go wrong when they think it controls them. It's the other way around.'

Three witches gathered on a lonely heath. A king cruelly murdered, his throne usurped by his ambitious cousin. A child heir and the royal crown, both missing.

Witches don't have these kinds of leadership problems themselves - in fact, they don't have leaders.

Granny Weatherwax is the most highly regarded of the leaders they don't have. But even she finds that meddling in royal politics is a lot more complicated than certain playwrights would have you believe. Particularly when the blood on your hands just won't wash off....

With an afterword by Joanne Harris.

Wyrd Sisters is the second book in the Witches series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series – The Colour of Magic – was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Love the writing,

It can be hard to ID characters voices and also chapter/scene changes. Character names can be hard to hear clearly if you don't already know them

Great performance of a great book.

Like all Discworld books, this is a delightful mix of funny and profound. The narration was well done.

Wonderful Pratchett Magic

Fantasy meets 16th century Shakespeare and modern day humor along with some awesome discworld eastereggs. I wanted to give 4.5 stars, guess I will make it 5 for all the laughs.

More excellence in the Discworld, as written and as performed

My title summarizes what I have to say. This, like all the other audio books from the Discworld series are listens that I suspect I’ll repeat many times.

My only complaint is that Mr. Praychett is no longer a residence of this globe world and cannot bless us with further exploration in this wonderful series.

Amazing!

A thoroughly enjoyable, witty read. There is really nothing else like Discworld. Love it to bits, I'll be quoting the lines for a good while :)

Fabulous narrator

Excellent reader - warm and funny. Her voice reminded me of Emma Thompson. There are bits of music to indicate when a footnote is coming. Death’s voice (a different reader) is absolutely perfect. I wish this team read all of the books!

Great audiobook

Sadly, I was only able to give this book five stars. There are so many stars in the heavens, I should be able to add two or three more…
