Love the different take on “Fae,” but wish it was duet

This was defiantly a read/listen that was worth the credit. I loved the magic system, and the different take on the fae. It reminds me of something, but I can’t place it lol I’ll def be reading the next one. One thing I wish tho is that the author would’ve given us more detail on how the ML looks. I know he has dark muffled hair (long? Maybe?) grey eyes, he’s tall af, lots of muscles, & he’s a shadow daddy with shadow wings. Other than that, I couldn’t really put a face to him the entire time. Also wish they would’ve done it duet style. Hate when the guy narrator voices the girls, & vice versa.. I had to keep thinking of other shadow daddy’s lol And I wish the mate bond was about 20% less of the story. I’m a big fan of slow SLOW burn, but the mating bond, & their attraction to each other got in the way of the story a few times. I have a feeling the next one will be better. I still have 2 hours left of the story, had to take a break and listen to something else. If you want a mini listen, & have extra credits, “Taken by the Dark Elf King” By Charlotte Swan is really good. The narration is chefs kiss.

Worth the read

Love the story building, the character depth, and the romance! All around is was a good read!

Both the story and the narrators were great👌🏽 the story was interesting and the tension between the main characters was just delicious. I can't wait to listen to the second! Please keep the same narrators🫶🏽 in the meantime I'll have to get the printed book because I need to know what happens next.

If you love Jennifer Armentrout of Sarah J. Maas's books this could be your new favorite author.
OMG. This fantasy romance duet novel is fabulous. The world-building is awesome and the characters are great. The gods choose the MFC Kya to go through a trial to prove if she is worthy or not to rule their people. She is strong and vibrant. Then there is the MMC Ryker a lord who has already been through the trials and proven his worth to rule their people. He is obsessive, with shadow powers, and of course hot. This is a fast-paced, action-packed story with magic. This story will keep you reading to the end with ghastly beasts, spirit animals, gods/goddesses, and curses/dark magic. Then you have the cliffhanger.

I also listen to this and highly recommend the narrators Laura Horowitz and Tyler Darby. They did a superb job! I hope they will also be narrating book 2!

Fantastic romantic build up. Great characters. Amazing female narrator. Looking forward to the next book

It was OK

Not a fan of Insta love. But everything else in this book had really cool aspects to it. I would read books two but I’m also not heavily invested.

Fated mates, forbidden romance

This was definitely a good time. I liked the trials they went through, the prophecies that help build tension between Kya and Ryker.

The Trial has come again. Kya must enter; and if she isn’t deemed Worthy, she will suffer a fate potentially worse than death. Not to mention the plague that is spreading. She has no Nation or strong power. Can she truly be Worthy?

Ryker has his shadow power, his Nation, but not his mate. Until he can sense her going into the Trial. When someone tells him it will destroy all he’s built to claim the mate bond, can he risk it all for her.

Wow.. 🤯

So good I can’t even describe how much I enjoyed this book I can’t wait for the next one, and the narrator was amazing for our FL.. I won’t lie it took a moment for the ML voice to get used to, but I enjoyed both by the end of the book and really liked this new take on a fae world very interesting. I also felt that the FL had a good balance between being a total badass and submissive with her guy, I wasn’t left feeling disappointed with her character.

Worth of reading!

Wow. This was a new and unique world. And the ending. And epilogue! Whose POV was that??? Book two here I come. I highly recommend this one. I haven’t seen this series r promoted at all and it should be! Definitely on my reread list. Tropes of unique magic system, dark forces, forbidden fated mates, slow burn, elemental magic, found family.
