About this listen

Wolfgang Volker is many things: vampire, psychopath, connoisseur of fine living. But impulsive? Never that. Until the day he sets foot in Hyde Park and catches a certain enticing scent on the wind. His mate is here, gorgeous and oblivious and undeniably human. And it doesn't take long for Wolfe to make the most impulsive move of his whole undead existence.

Dr. Eric Monroe has plenty going for him: he's good-looking, he's a doctor, he's well, that's kind of it. And true, the citizens of Hyde Park think he's a sleaze and a dud and make sure to let him know it. And no, he doesn't have any real friends or family members who don't drive him up the wall. But that's fine, right? Until the day his standing massage appointment ends not with a tip, but with a bite.

Now Eric has to navigate a new world, a new existence, a new, very particular diet. All while coming to terms with the strange, obsessive, all-too-alluring vampire who claims they're destined mates. But what does it mean to be mated to someone whos never truly cared for another person before? And can Wolfe convince Eric to stick around long enough to find out?

Wolfgang is a heated, fated-mates MM paranormal romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a possessive, psychopathic vampire soft only for his mate, and the insecure, needy human who can't quite come to terms with being wanted just as he is. It also contains steamy scenes between two men, and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) that one might expect from a vampire romance. While each book focuses on a different couple, the series is best enjoyed in order.

An insecure doctor and a very competent vampire

I adore this series and I actually really enjoy Wolfgang. He's one of my favorites (after Johann....and maybe Soren). There's some debate over whether or not his a psychopath, but really I think the important take away is that he doesn't really feel guilt for his actions, is a bit selfish, and very logical in his approach. Eric has a need for people to show him affections. He definitely doesn't get any from his parents and has found that sex has filled this void for him. While it worked in a larger city, he's not having much luck in this new town and is definitely not making friends. These two actually work perfectly together because they both fill the other's need. Eric needs Wolf's attention and Wolf wants Eric (mostly) all to himself. Which is why I loved it when Wolf forced Eric to befriend the other vampires in town. This is a steamy story with amazing world building and loveable characters. You really won't be disappointed if you give this one a try and while it's not necessary I do recommend listening to them in order since the other couples do make an appearance. There is some overarching plot though it's not too strong. Michael as always is fantastic and I love the way he voices Wolf. You can truly hear Wolf's words dripping with his superiority. Absolutely perfect!

Love the possessiveness

📖 In the fifth installment of Vampire’s Mate we follow the unlikely pair of Wolfe and Eric, known as sleazy Dr. Monroe. However we get to see another side of Eric, actually we get to see what motivates him to make all the cheesy pick ups and we see how lonely he is and how much he craves to be touched, to feel a part of something. Then we see Wolfgang, or Wolfe, and how even though he has no empathy, guilt, and calls himself a psychopath, he is able to give Eric everything he needs. I love that Grae doesn’t compromise Wolfe’s personality and makes him something he isn’t. Wolfe is different towards Eric because Eric is his and has been created specifically for him by fate and he treasures all of his “possessions”. Their dynamic is fun and perfect for them and even though they are so different, they fit so well with each other.

If you’re in the mood for some PNR, possessive psycho love, pampering, and banter then this is the book for you. ❤️

Love in the Extreme

I'm not sure if my words will really be able to express how much I enjoyed this story. I have been a fan of this series from book one but this book takes the prize. Neither Wolfgang nor Eric have ever been portrayed as the greatest of people but I couldn't help wanting to gleefully welcome them into the family after this. That's even with Wolfgang still remaining unapologetically psychopathic in his thoughts and feelings towards mostly everyone except his mate. I had a lot of fun reading this one. I absolutely loved the audiobook for this. Michael Ferraiuolo's amazing narration adds even more to the story and makes it even better.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Great addition to the series

This was great, I love the romance and I enjoyed the subplot too. I really adored the chemistry and the dynamic between Wolfgang and Eric. I particularly liked how Wolfgang took care of Eric. Certain scenes between them melted my heart. The narrator was brilliant and brought the story and the characters to life beautifully. Can't wait to listen the next book in the series

Loved it!

I loved everything about this book! Wolfe and Eric are so good together. Eric softens Wolfe’s edges and Wolfe lets Eric know he is perfect just the way he is. I loved getting beyond the “psychopath” and “player” persona’s and seeing that there was so much more to both of them. I’m always happy to see all the previous couples. It was especially nice to see Luc and Jamie again. This is an exceptional series and Wolfgang is another winner. It’s an easy listen and the narration was perfect.

Instant Obsession!

Instant Obsession was pretty much the only way this was going to go with Wolfe! It was hot and it was exactly what lonely and actually emotionally insecure Eric needed. I absolutely loved that for Wolfe he just considered Eric to be HIS and did not feel the need to dig any deeper. He just needed to have and own him! Eric gives as good as he gets though and there is some humor in here with their bond and how Eric is privy to Wolfe's primal thoughts. This story was hot, steamy, possessive and exactly what I wanted for both of them! Michael's narration was absolute perfection. He is nailing the crazy personalities of all the characters in this series.

Excellent audiobook of an amazing series!

The audio of this is just excellent!! Michael, as always, knocks it out of the park with this one.

I highly recommend reading this series in order, as there is a lot of couples and characters overlapping and building in the overall series. This one especially features every couple in books 1-4 and I feel like you'd get the most enjoyment out of this one having read the other stories.

We first met Wolfe in Jay's book, the kinda crazy vampire who kidnapped his mate and turned him right away. Now we get to see what really went down, including some scenes from Jay's book now from Wolfe's POV. I absolutely loved this psychopath vampire. I loved just how different he was from all of the other Hyde Park vampires, and having Eric start out being turned was a delight and lovely change of pace from the previous books in the series. Wolfe just DGAF and that doesn't change after finding Eric and having to put up with this new den of vampires.

I love how gradual Eric and Wolfe fall for each other - how needy and slutty Eric is, and how well that works for his partnership with Wolfe. Wolfe loves it, encourages it even, just as long as Eric is needy for HIM. I loved how their bond just gradually sets into place and they come to mean so much to each other. Everything they do, it's on their terms, and it might be different than the other couples, but it works so well for them!

However, what totally stole the show for me were the chapters when Eric got introduced to all of the couples from the previous books. Jay's adorable wave hello, his cookies, Danny being sweet Danny as always. And the love/hate friendship with Lucien in the mix! Honestly, the dynamics between everyone is just hilarious and SO MUCH FUN to read about!
