Acerca de esta escucha

Sebastian Volkov, a fox shifter raised among werewolves, ran from everything he ever loved after a brutal attack that left him fearing his own shadow. That night a single kiss saved his life and left him with fantasies of a man whose face he couldn’t remember. When Sebastian’s car breaks down in a small Washington town, he meets an alpha werewolf who reminds him vaguely of a stranger’s kiss.

A year ago, Liam Ulrich, alpha of the Northern Cascade’s pack, shared a magic-filled kiss with a virtual stranger, the infamous Witchblood child of the most powerful werewolf in the world. Since that night, Liam has been waiting for Sebastian to find his way home. Liam knows that Sebastian doesn’t trust easily, or at all, so he’s going to have to give his prickly mate time and space.

The past Sebastian tried to escape still stalks him, and slowing down gives it time to catch up.

When the werewolves’ ultimate enemy rises up to cast its shadow over them all, Sebastian realizes he will have to stop running or risk losing everything...including his hope of a future with Liam.

Edit: Edition updated to reflect minor character changes, grammatical corrections, and a removal of about 500 words.

This was really good!

This is a fated mates story with a “cinderfella” feel in that Sebastian doesn’t know all his potential and Liam’s mating with Sebastian is an untapped source of power as well. There are plenty of bad guys and some guys you don’t know on which side they fall. There is some hot smexy times, but lots of gory violence.

There are some parts I didn’t love: The reference to past lovers in ways that didn’t seem to be completely “settled”. The violence. Sometimes I wasn’t always clear on the world building.

But in general I loved the magic, the romance, the fated mates, the unconscious drive towards his mate and the HEA was amazing!

I can’t wait for more from the series!

Tyler Kent is a new to me narrator and he did a nice job with this. There were some flubs and he is not as smooth as some narrators, but he did a good job with the different characters.

4 star

I loved the story, new narrator did nice job

I finished it because I really loved a lot of the concepts put into this book. The writers take on werewolves had their own original twists that really peaked my love for werewolves. The main character is an over thinker which they write well but there are a lot of parts that were over done. The story itself was okay and I wouldn't recommend this book. That is not to say I would dissuade anyone from reading it either. The adult scenes were great and the humor was good.

The narrator's different voices were alright and got better through out the book. Assuming there is a next book coming I think he'll have them down better.

I hope the series grows because I love the concepts and hope the writer brings more to the table. This chronicle deserves it! I will continue to see were it goes.

Enjoyed

It was so much like mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs it was almost laughable. That being said, I still found it enjoyable enough. It kept my interest for the entire listen. I wasn't too crazy about the narration. At first, laim sounded way off, but it changed half way though the book to sound more irish. I wish the main character would grow a backbone and not sound and act so pathetic and helpless. I'm not sure if reading the next will be worth it, but I want to see him grow.

Mercy Thompson retailing, but MM.

There was quite a bit of repetition and if internal monologuing makes you crazy this book would not be a good match. I became tired of his low self-esteem and things would be repeated from one paragraph to a few paragraphs later. There are several plot inconsistencies and some things that don't make sense. Sebastian is described as darker skinned and the attractive cover image looks more Irish than black Asian mixed with Creole. All that said, I did enjoy the book enough to purchase the second in the series. The reader did an excellent job and he contributed a lot to the success of the book.

Self involved but good

I became lost and muddled around chapter 19. From chapter 20 the story seemed..unconnected to the story to that point (to my perception). I found myself asking, 'what does this have to do with the journey to this point?' I liked a number of the characters. I did feel like it was too long. Maybe if it was concentrated, condensed it might have been improved.

The story wasn't bad, no, it was decent, pretty good. Just not super catchy. I liked the idea of it, the premise.

Narration was good. A nice youthful voice that got well with the main character. That part was enjoyable.

Story got lost.

The story is long and wordy and the character does have a tendency to get side tracked with self deprecation during important moments, I can see why it wouldn't appeal to certain readers, especially older ones, and why some might find it annoying, but I didn't mind.

To me, the character feels modern with old world influences of magic and I enjoy that. This shifter universe is certainly unique and this version of a Kitsune is more original than most others.

The narration was surprisingly enthralling, easy to follow along with and did great with emotional voice inflections.

I personally can't wait until the next book in the series. I'm very excited to see what's next.

This is such a great listen. I really like Seb and Laim's story. Tyler Kent has done a great job with this narration. I like all the voices that he does and he definitely makes me like this story even more. Definitely a great listen

I love this book and was excited to listen. There's only two things I didn't like.
1st- I have to skip any parts where Korissa speaks because I can't stand the way the voice is for her. It's like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. Because I read the book several times before listening, I don't need to listen to her part in the book because I already know what her importance is. If you can get through a high pitched squeaking screeching for a time, the rest of the narration is perfect. The narration for everything is great and with his normal voice, I could listen to him all the time.
2nd- The other bothersome thing is with the story itself. Liam keeps saying how they have time for him to share his history and parts of his life while he expects Sebastion to reveal everything about himself. He knows it frustrates sebastion but he continues to just say, "time". I didn't like that at all.

Love his voice and the story

This is the first time I have ever heard Tyler Kent narrate a book and he did a wonderful job. He took a book I loved to a higher level. I didn't think I could love Seb more but I did. Well worth a credit. Lissa Kasey has written another winner!

Wonderful
