About this listen

Wild Cards now in development for TV!

Dead Man's Hand combines the writing talents of George R. R. Martin and John Jos. Miller.

Chrysalis, the glass-skinned queen of the Joker underworld, has been found brutally murdered in her popular restaurant, the Crystal Palace. Now two men are out to find her killer: Jay Ackroyd, the Ace private investigator who discovered her ruined body, and the vigilante archer known as the Yeoman, who has been framed for the crime.

Their quest leads them on a nightmare odyssey of madness, violence, passion, and political intrigue that will forever alter the fates of Aces and Jokers everywhere.

Experience all the exciting action of this collaborative novel by George R. R. Martin and John Jos. Miller. Dead Man's Hand is both a gripping mystery and a chilling story of suspense, set in the unforgettable world of the Wild Cards.

Rights to develop Wild Cards for TV have been acquired by Universal Cable Productions, the team that brought you The Magicians and Mr. Robot, with the coeditor of Wild Cards, Melinda Snodgrass, as executive producer.

If only Audible had the next book ready!

Wildcards is always thrilling, even with that bore Brennan taking up a good part of this book. My plane ride flew past in no time!

Listen right after book 6- you won't be sorry

This book runs parallel with book 6 and sews everything up nicely with lots of nice twists and turns. Now is we can just get them to record book 8.

Great follow to the last and close to the arc.

These books get better and better as the world gets more developed. This is an excellent read and unique in the category of super hero stories.

Superheros, crime, and detectives!

While I don't normally read a lot of science fiction, I have to admit that the author(s) have created a very clever premise here in the Wild Cards series. What can be more fun than a world full of superheros? This story line follows two main characters, Private Detective Jay Ackroyd (Popinjay - who can "pop" e.g. teleport people to anywhere he wishes by forming his hand into the shape of a gun) and Daniel Brennan (Yeoman) who is an expert at archery. They both separately try to track down the person who murdered their former love interest, Chrysalis. Jay Acovone and Adrian Paul both did a wonderful job performing this book. I loved the accents and personalities they gave the characters. Adrian was great as the cool, calculated man in the black mask, and Jay was perfect for the voice a New York Private detective with wry humor and quick wits.

Carries on the legacy.

Love these books, sadly this is the last one on audio. Hopefully more in the future can't get enough of the wild cards universe.

Part 2 of 1

This combined with book 6 is a great story. The ywo as seperate entities leave a lot of holes. Read both before judging.

Excellent story concludes two long developed plots

The only complaint is two different narrators characterize Tachyon, Yeoman, and Popinjay's voices very differently.

Jay Acovone did great! Paul Adrian not so much.

The Daniel Brennan parts are poorly acted. I do love the Poppin Jay parts. Jay Acovone brings so much life to the character. A great addition to the series.
