About this listen

A king can't defeat an army of lawless pirates. But a mercenary can.

Logan Conner is the son of a king, the heir to the largest of the five star-dominions, and the best mech pilot in the galaxy. His people are plagued by pirates and raiders, surrounded by enemies, and not even his father can fight them all. Logan gives up his position, his rank, even his name, and becomes Jonathan Slaughter, leader of a rough-and-ready band of mercenary mech-jocks bent on taking the battle to the enemy on their own terms.

They’re Wholesale Slaughter. Kicking ass is what they do. Get book one in this thrilling and unpredictable military sci-fi adventure today!

Excellent characters and plot. The technology works for the world and there is a good mix of action, space, mech and infantry. Great world building and characters.

I was kind of expecting another 'Dad gets killed, son escapes to carry on the fight' kind of story but that wasn't what this was. I'm now curious about the Jeuta and other governments. An excellent start to what should prove an interesting series.

Marc Vietor also does an admirable job narrating.

I'm really looking forward to the other books.

Awesome book

First, I have to start off by stating that I got this book free of charge in exchange for a review, but as I always state, this does not in any way impact my review. My reviews are always honest and my own.

This book has the proper amount of action, adventure, drama, and romance (yes, I said it) in it. This is going to be a great series because the crew has a long way yet to go and they will be fighting pirates and who knows what else, the whole way.
If you enjoy an interesting military storyline with lots of action and great characters then this is the series for you. The characters and action are believable.

The tech system is easy to follow and despite how it might seem early in the book, no one is overpowered. There are no exp here, just tec points used for leveling.

Overall, this is a fun book in a genre I love. At times it is a slice of life, but never for long. The story arc is one that has great potential for future volumes, and I’m interested to see where he takes it. If the Reality Benders series wasn’t out, this would leap into my number one sci-fi game lit spot.

Sci-fi military greatness

The performance is top notch. The story is good if you don't mind ones heavy on the details of each battle. Some can go on for multiple chapters.

Excellent book! Great details in the story and a very good story. The narration was also very good.

The characters were all fairly standard
The story was simple and easy to follow
Not a whole lot of needless technobabble a bit too much of your elders know best

What I didn’t like The main character is a Boy Scout except for when he’s not and the author gave them that were moral compass that all corny riders try to give the main characters The main character can slaughtered dozens of people in the heat of battle but if one murdering rapist terrorist thief or parrot just put his gun down and raises his hands the main character is going to stop and talk to him and maybe let him blackmail him or talk him into letting him go it’s such a naïve stupid thing if these authors try to ride into these main characters in the end it really takes away from the story

With that said I will probably buy the second book it’ll probably go downhill fast and I won’t buy the third book in the series if these things go the way they normally do

Average very average

Interesting story about Logan Connor taking off to find weapons from people who lives ages and ages before he did. AND the battles he would fight while he tried to cross the galaxy.

A little romance, without any kind of descriptive sex, and the F-bomb was used 44 times.

As for the narration: Marc Vietor did a great job.

Good start to this series..

The books summary was very misleading for me. I thought the story arch would be him giving up his position to go fight pirates.... Not even close. l won't give any spoilers but the actual story was better then the summary. There is pirate killing. There is wholesale slaughter. There is giant robots and the author really fleshs out the universe to immerse me in the "science" of the book.

Miss leading

I passed over this book a few times because of the title but it continued to appear in my recommendation list. I took a closer look and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. This is an excellent book, balanced with action, story line, world building and character development. I highly recommend it.

Don't Judge It By The Title

This book was action from cover to cover. Almost too much action. I felt like I never got a second to breath and feel safe. Normally all that action would be perfect, but I think it may have been overkill. All in all though, good book. I enjoyed all the terminology, which helps submerge me in the world and Sgt. Slaughter is just cool, period.

At my request, I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Action packed from start to finish.

It's filled with non stop action and body parts all over.
An unusual group go undercover to fight an unusual group of "bad guys".
The narrator did a very good job in bringing the personality of each character into the story.
Logan and Katie.. hmmm, not sure. We'll see.
