About this listen

USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa pens a thought-provoking emotional duet that works through the angst of finding love amidst past hurts and the pain associated with not belonging, not fitting in.

He says they can both love me. Protect me. Be the men I need. Can I possibly believe them?

Every one of my relationships—from hookups to business partners—begins and ends with an NDA. Hell, I’ve never even been on a real date. That’s what happens when your famous, secretly gay parents go to extremes to protect their kids from the media’s unrelenting spotlight.

In a life where I try on and cast off pet projects like I change my socks, two people generate the kind of chemistry that holds my interest. Believe me, that’s saying something.

There’s my brother’s business partner, Tristan Cooperson. Mr. Hot Suit. Professional overthinker. Doesn’t just avoid mixing business with pleasure. He doesn’t mix pleasure with…anything.

Then there’s the beautiful bartender Thea Dennis. Skittish as the butterfly gracing the logo of one of her many side gigs. Hiding her past like a wounded dragon guarding its hoard.

Can you picture it? Tristan, Thea, and me. The perfect love. Untouchable by all the bad things of the world. Or capable of dragging us through the nine circles of hell.

Who We Are is the first book of the Perfect Everlasting duet. A polyamorous relationship packed with angst and two hot AF men.

Note: Part of this book was published under Uncut and significantly expanded.

In 2016 I stumbled upon a book called UNCUT by Claudia Burgoa on Netgalley and I decided to give it a try because the synopsis really intrigued me, and I am so glad that I did because my love for that book has turned into a love for this author's work. Now here we are years later and Claudia has gone back and rewrite the story, she didn't change it she just gave it more of the background and character development she felt it needed to enrich the story which made it a duet. I loved it then and I love it even more now.

Matthew Decker is the Rockstar, who loves everyone. he has a great family and an optimistic look on life. Thea is a recovering addict, She was sexually exploited when she was so young. She was a child actor and her "Father" made her do things with the directors and such to ensure that she would get the best parts, needless to say she turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with things happening in her life. And then we have Tristan whose father sent him away to "pray the gay away" when he was barely a teen. So you know there are going to be hangups with his sexuality and believing that he can love whomever he wants.

These three are so different from one another but they are perfect for each other. This book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger but I was prepared with the second so I jumped right into that one. I listened to the audiobook versions of each book but I will admit to reading my kindle copy under the covers when I couldn't sleep and needed to know what happened next. Jason Clarke, Erin Mallon, Teddy Hamilton did a magnificant job with bringing Matt, Thea, and Tristan to life.

I would recommend this book to those that enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, Why Choose Romances, Grumpy/Sunshine Romances, Friends-to-Lovers Romances, or Rockstar Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

Great start to this duet!

Excellent audio! You can't go wrong with Teddy and Jason. This was such an angsty and emotional story and so good! Definitely takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. And that ending...be prepared to want to dive into the second part immediately!

Captivating and Emotional Love Story!

OMG, I loved how the original story, Uncut, from the Unexpected series, was rewritten and expanded into an even more beautiful epic love story! It masterfully tells the tale of how three people navigate their differences, fears and struggles, bridging them together in hope and love. Matthew is such a wonderful character, who is funny, impulsive, loyal and protective. Tristan is attracted to both men and women, like Matthew is, but his parents, and others, have convinced him it is so shameful, that he hides who he truly is. Thea is the woman who has survived her own tragic past, is still fighting her demons, but is also filled with hope and life. After a failed relationship, Matthew and Tristan are brought back together with their mutual attraction to Thea. Matthew orchestrates the idea of them being together, and he is so positive, and loving, and their hearts are so connected, that Thea and Tristan can't help but want to try this unconventional arrangement. Of course it is never so simple, and Ms. Burgoa exquisitely weaves a story with intriguing and complex characters learning to trust and love unconditionally. I love how she isn't cutting corners, revealing each character slowly, allowing us to learn, care, and empathize with their heartbreaking pasts, while also watching them build a fun, loving and passionate relationship. Their complex journey isn't easy, and their unconventional union is a rollercoaster ride that is at times, raw and painful, but fun, hopeful and passionate as well.
The narration by Teddy Hamilton, Jason Clarke, and Erin Mallon was so captivating. They took on these complex characters so intimately with their voice, tone, and disposition, making them so clear to me. They are such masterful storytellers, sweeping me along, and making me feel every emotion, like I was right there with Matthew, Tristan, and Thea. I always love these narrators and they really were so perfectly cast here.
This story proves that love has no limits and bounds but is beautiful and pure in all its manifest glory. The ending took my breathe away and I can't wait to to find out what happens next in Matthew, Thea, and Tristan's epic love story in the second book of this duet, Who We Love!

One of the only MMF’s that I love

I am very picky when it comes to MMF! I love to see a connection with all the characters and not one being a filler like some of the more popular books likes to do!

Burgoa though the story is very involved, writes a very beautiful story! This book really helps to set the foundation for this trio and show their connection.

This book ends in a way that has me needing the next book like I need the air I breathe! I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!

Obsessed!!!

This was my first Claudia audiobook and now I need more of her audiobooks!!!

Who We Are is book #1 in The Perfect Everlasting duet. This is a MMF romance.

Matthew, Tristan and Theas story is everything!!!

The emotions this one will pull out of you, oh boy!!! I was constantly rooting for them to get their HEA.

And that cliffhanger!!! I'm so glad I can instantly dive into book 2 or I would probably cry 😂😂

Jason Clarke, Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton blew me away, as usual. This is a must listen!!!!

Lovely start to a duet!

I knew immediately I was going to love this book because Teddy Hamilton can do no wrong whenever he is narrating a book lol.

It has been a hot minute since I have read an MMF book, and I am so happy that I kicked it back off with this duet. From the get go, I loved Matthew. He was not afraid to show who he was and did not care one ounce what people thought about him. Tristan is a bit more on the safe side, due to a complicated up bringing he doesn't quite want to be open about everything. I truly loved how the author kept most of the beginning of the story about Matthew and Tristan and then eventually brought Thea into the mix. It wasn't just a straight throuple relationship from the get go. Thea has her own issues that she is working through.

This was an emotional, heartbreaking story that takes you on a journey. I loved watching these three come together in this first book and eager to start the next one after that cliff hanger.

3 narrators and a gorgeous story

Be still my heart! Claudia Burgoa has once again gotten me deep in my feels and I love that I can always depend on her to give me a story that will consume me. Who We Are is the first in the Perfect Everlasting duet and a wonderful story about making peace with who you are and finding unexpected love. I adore when an author gives us time to really get to know our characters from their POV and makes us love them first before they find love with each other. This story immediately sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go, so much so that I both read and listened to the story. In audio, it was a fantastic treat with narration by Jason Clarke, Erin Mallon, and Teddy Hamilton.

Matthew is someone who is commitment adverse – in life, in love, in everything. He is willing to try anything and anyone on for size. Who he wants to try is his brother’s business partner, but Tristan doesn’t risk anything. He isn’t interested, or is he. Then there is Thea, a bartender with shadows in her eyes. Matthews wants to unwrap each of them, preferably together.

Tristan is a man who grew up hating himself and it hurt my heart that his family was so cruel to their son. Thea is a woman who lived a hard life before she was even old enough to make decisions for herself. And Matthew is just a sweetheart. I loved how they were such interesting characters and so easy to love. I really enjoyed how they each found the other two on their own before realizing their shared connection and that in all reality, they needed one another without even knowing it. This story stole my heart and left me wanting more. Thankfully there was more to enjoy in book 2.

Amazing Narration

The narrators did a phenomenal job on this duet! In the first book we really get to know Matthew and Tristan and their backgrounds, and how Thea fit in. In Who We Love we start to see how it will all work out.

These books are very angsty, and not for the faint of heart, but the journey is a good one. I’m glad I got to listen to these back to back and got their full story at once. Highly recommend this series on audio.
