About this listen

A tortured soul meets a damaged family.... A lonely man, a widowed woman, a carefree boy, and a broken girl.... Can the four come together and help heal each other? Or will fear of the unknown and guilt of the past keep them apart?

Her whispered prayers break her....

At night, as she's drifting off to sleep, I press my ear to the door and listen to her heart-wrenching pleas. Her words are agony to my healing heart, but I cherish the sound of them, for that's the only time I ever hear my beautiful daughter speak. Since her father died two years ago, she's grown quiet and withdrawn. Cat's Valley was to be our new beginning, a place where my family and I can heal, but what we find there is so much more.

Scars mar his body. Pain has left him in pieces....

Four years ago, I lost the two things I cherished most in the world. They were ripped from my arms in the most painful and cruel way. Since then, I've kept to myself, preferring to stay away from the pitying looks and murmured rumors. Everything changed when she and her children barged into my life. It was an accident, and I don't deserve them, but now that they've stepped into my life, I'm not sure I can let them go.

This is not only a Must Read, but a Must Listen!!

Let me just start with...This is a not only a MUST READ, but a MUST HEAR too!!

I LOVED this in both forms, but having this on Audible really brings this one to life.

Whispered Prayers of a Girl took me on a journey like no other and totally stole my heart. This is a heart breaking journey of how loss can torture you and break you with all the what ifs in life that we all face sometimes in our lives. This book had me feeling every emotion possible from beginning to end. It's not only heartbreaking, but heartwarming. Yes, I guarantee that it will rip your heart out, but I also guarantee that it will slowly put it all back together.

I have to admit that I usually try to stay away from the reads that hint to me that it may be one that will make me cry, but I could not resist a book by Alex Grayson.

Alex Grayson always blows me away with her writing, but Whispered Prayers of a Girl blew me away like no other. Make sure you take a chance on this one, I promise you that you will not regret that you did.

Happy Reading and Listening Everyone!!!

A beautiful heartrending story

I have just found a new favorite author. I'll be looking for more by Alex Grayson. This book had me all over the place emotionally. It was well written with a touching storyline. I fell completely in love with the characters. I may have enjoyed reading it myself even more.

Rhett Price and Nicole Blessing performed well and emotionally. I wasn't expecting such a low, gravelly sound from Mr. Price. He grew on me quickly. Ms. Blessing had times where there were...pauses? I wondered if I had accidentally hit the speed button and changed the tempo of the reading. But on the whole, they really drew me in, and I hated pausing the book when necessary.

Finding Healing from the past

This was a tender story that was very hard to put down, so I could go to sleep. Gwendolyn is making her way for herself and her kids. They each had to deal with the death of a husband/father too early in life. They are forced to stay with Alexander when their truck ran off the side of the road in the middle of a snowstorm. Alexander is fighting the demons of his past. His character is holding on to guilt that is drowning him in his present life. The relationship that develops between Alexander and Gwendolyn is hot. Alexander's tender heart is coaxed out by Gwendolyn's children. The narrator's did an excellent job in the book. I liked having two narrator's. It made the book more real. My only real issue with the book was the cursing, but it was also a disclaimer on the book. The situations that made the characters who they were, were tragic and descriptive in the book. There is some bedroom scenes as well. Overall this was a great story with a lot of depth and real characters. I recommend to those that love a romance that pulls at your heartstrings and is not offended by bedroom scenes and cursing.

Love after a loss

It was good until the last conflict, I thought that was to much. Narrators were great.

Plus and minus

I liked that there were two actors doing the voices; however, I did not like the imitations of the opposite gender voices when the female could have done the female voices it broke the continuity for me

4.5 Emotional Stars

This was a re-read for me, I loved this book when I read it. I will admit that the voices of the narrators were not what I had pictured in my head so it did take a little bit for me to get into the book this time around but when I settled in I loved the content just as much as the first time.

From the synopsis of this book it is clear that you are not setting yourself up for a warm and fuzzy read, but you are setting yourself up for an emotional journey of healing and slow steps to moving forward from substantial loss.

Alexander has let his loss take over his life in every way over the past 4 years. He wears his scars from that horrific night for everyone to see, and sometimes the gossip and murmurs are just too much to endure. Many would say he has removed himself from society as much as possible to shield himself from further pain. Watching him with his horses and dog, you can clearly see deep down he is a strong loving man. When he sees that truck stranded and goes to help the last thing he was ready for was Gwen and her children.

Gwen has uprooted her children and moved them to make a new start. Just a couple of years after loosing her husband to early to a sudden heart attack. Each of them are dealing with the loss in a different ways, but Gwen has to keep herself moving forward for her children in hopes to help them move along. They are quick to fall in love with the new small town and it's residents. Will this move help Gwen bring her little girl back? Will she find a way to truly move forward?

The last think Alexander was looking for was relationship and family, can Gwen and her children bring that caring man back to life while healing themselves?

Ms. Grayson does a wonderful job of expressing the feelings of her characters. It is beautiful to watch how a need to help another person with their grief, can silently start the healing process within yourself as well. Sometimes it takes a shared understand to really let someone in. I love that Alex has used animals in the healing process and shows the strong connection that can be formed. A super read that help to remind us that life is to short and should be lived to the fullest, you never know when things can change.
