About this listen

Russ and Anne Mathews made their escape from their home, along with family, friends, and new friends they made along the way. Now, they must build a new life for themselves at the Warren farm, without the luxury of electricity and very few traces of the 21st century.

The problem: there are a lot of people who didn't prepare for something like this, and some of those people will stop at nothing to take what the group has, by whatever means necessary. They must protect the farm and their supplies day and night from those who would do them harm to acquire them.

These people are not soldiers. They are everyday people like you and me. They're building a clan. How far will they have to go in order to secure the safety of the ones they love in their new home? What price will they pay in the process?

When the Peace Is Gone is the second book in the A Powerless World Series, dealing with how life might be lived after an EMP. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, this continuation of the story by P.A. Glaspy is a unique story from a woman's point of view.

Do not apologize...

I have been reading the post apocalyptic genre for years. You have done an excellent job, making me laugh out loud as well as eyes water with tears. You kept it amazingly clean and we all know the reality of an event such as this would definitely be much grittier. Please continue the story and I will continue to read it.
The story is for the writer and us readers either enjoy it or not...and your story is enjoyable to this reader.
Sincerely,
Jeremy

KEEP WRITING!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend this to a friend.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them. I love the fact this was told from a woman's point of view... not all guns guns guns. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of action!

What does Jennifer Groberg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Loved the accent, she brought the characters to life. Cant imagine anyone else narrating this book

Any additional comments?

Loved the books... hoping for more. Please keep writing. Hoping for more in this series! Thank you for enjoyable book and the way it was performed! You have a fan here!

Great book with well defined storyline

The aspect of the book I found to be best was the development of the characters and the relationships formed during this event. Keep going, you are doing great!

Nuts and Bolts of living after an EMP

Great information on chores, education, entertainment for children, menus,
sleeping arrangements, laundry, old time tractor driving and plowing, medicinal
healing herbs. Kept rewinding to listen to the section on healing herbs.

While encouraging being armed, the characters showed a reluctance to kill
when confronted with 3 scavenging predators. It was obvious to me, even
without knowing their previous crimes, but knowing they had tried to steal
a woman, that they should have been killed immediately when the defenders
had a chance. They should have realized letting them go allowed them to
continue kidnapping, rape, plunder on someone else. Maybe they were allowed
to go for the sake of the story line. In real life, the defenders should have killed
them quickly, then gone to eat or finish chores or nap.

A little concerned about the story line regarding the UN. Afraid this will
encourage a Ruby Ridge mentality. The UN is more likely to outlaw all
religion than come to your house to steal your food. If you have a compound
and the government comes, you will not drive them off, you and your children
will be killed. Better to be taxed or whatever than face direct confrontation
like Ruby Ridge. If submission cannot be done because your wife or children
are to be taken, FLEE.

Other flaws, lots of profanity and wife disobeying a legitimate order of her
husband to stay behind and not endanger her life.

Enjoyed the nuts and bolts of daily life of running a large household, which
male authors overlook.

I intend listening to this book several more times. Still lots more information to pick up!

I loved this narrators voice and this book was excellent!

I wish the author would release this as a bookset for sale as paperback or hardback books on Amazon because I’d sure buy the whole series. I cannot find the prequel anywhere to purchase and some of the others are crazy expensive. The narrator was GREAT.. I loved her accent. I loved the storyline and have listened to this series several times and recommended to many friends.

Continuation of a good story

The first book takes place in about a week and this book takes place in about a month. In my opinion it is a more realistic scenario of what would/could happen in a lights out situation than what is told in many of the post apocalyptic novels. Again the author sneaks in lots of good prepping ideas and recommendations into the story line. Characters continue making good decisions, growing their group as the bad guys become more of a problem.
