About this listen

The Weight of Glory features nine memorable addresses C. S. Lewis delivered during World War II. Considered by many to be his most moving address, the title essay, "The Weight of Glory," extols a compassionate vision of Christianity and includes lucid and compelling discussions on forgiveness and faith. "On Forgiveness," "The Inner Ring," and the other much-quoted pieces display Lewis's breadth of learning and spiritual insight that have made him the most influential Christian of the twentieth century.

My favorite collection of writings from CS Lewis.

In this book, C.S. Lewis touches on variety of topics and each one is equally important in its own right. Military service, forgiveness, talking in tongs (not a topic, but discussed), etc., wow! I have not heard of a deeper rational behind the things we, Christians, cherish and accept or don't and may be in error. The last chapter dealing with forgiveness, was especially edifying.

I would commend all to listen, our read if you have the book, the chapters on "Transposition" and "Is Theology Poetry". I had to listen to those two a couple of times just to make sure I missed nothing and could remember most from pure delight.

After finishing this audio book, I had began to believe that CS Lewis has become my friend, as if somehow, I was allowed, by the grace of God, to get to know him deeper and to sit at his house sipping tea while listening to "reason". Time and mortality separate my musings from reality, but I do look forward to it in the age to come.

Weight of Glory

Excellent narrator and an even greater writer. I had one problem with the essays and that was how committed to Plato’s view of heaven. Lewis is too otherworldly. However his other incites are fantastic.

Thought provoking and profound

CS Lewis always meets expectations.
Narrator had a pleasant voice. Just wish I'd kept a pad of paper nearby while listening to take notes. Will be listening many more times to have it sink in

Lewis at his best

This is the best of Lewis’s works. Not always easy to read because it hits home so hard.

Beautifully challenging

Oh - to be this much of a seeker of God. C S Lewis rings out great depth of thought making the reader reckon with deficiencies in the use of his own brain.
