Publisher's summary

“You’re hiking how far solo?”

"How are you going to hike the entire John Muir Trail when you’ve never even been backpacking before?”

These were the two most common questions that accompanied baffled looks from Christy’s corporate coworkers when she mentioned her plans. Legitimate questions Christy had pondered herself. Yet, she couldn’t fully express the pull to hike more than 220 miles in the California High Sierra Mountains. She knew only that her whole being told her that she needed to. After six months of research, reading books, watching documentaries, and training hikes, Christy began walking southbound on the world-famous trail.

Throughout her wild journey, Christy encountered freezing temperatures, pelting hail storms, and losing her way but found trail family, incredible views, and experiences that would change her life forever. Hiking up and over 10 different mountain passes gave Christy a lot of time to think about why her nine-year marriage was falling apart and gave her the chance to truly embody her individualism, time to make new friends, and the strength she would need on and off the trail. Her life could never again be the same.

This is one woman’s account of the three weeks she spent on the iconic trail.

Inspiring and Enjoyable

There is so much to like about this book. As I listened to the writer, I admired her strength and endurance and couldn’t wait to hear how she would overcome each obstacle. She explains the process and thoughts leading up to preparing for such a long and challenging 200+ mile hike on the John Muir Trail. I was amazed that she decided to do a hike of this magnitude as a first and as a solo traveler! I especially loved the stories about the people she met along the way and their interactions. There were moments when I was on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what would happen next. At the end of the book, she reached out to all of the hikers she had met along the trail and shares a glimpse into their lives following such an amazing adventure. This book will inspire many to think outside the box and know that they too can accomplish more than they realize in life if they just set their minds to it.

Relatable

If you’ve ever put yourself out there or been through at least a couple hard times, you’ll enjoy this story. It’s gutsy and relatable. Not the book of the year but even the book I wrote isn’t on Audible. If you like true adventure and transformation, it’s totally worth it.
