About this listen

They came to Earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to Earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now, Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so, she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall or sacrifice everything and stop him.

What a wonderful book! I love this series and can’t wait for the next book!

Wow

The romance felt lazily crafted. I didn’t like how War immediately sensed a connection with Miriam and their love was built from there. He knew nothing about her and yet almost from the start she was exempt from his rules or anger. Felt sloppy.

Good but not great

seriously, this book is outstanding. I dont know how she keeps coming up with these. they are so well put together, and the buildup to Deaths book is insane, and I cant wait!!! so theres fabulous character development, gore, death, fight scenes, hot romance and everything you come to expect from Laura Thalassa. I love this book!!! worth every penny and more! oh and the narrator- freaking fabulous!!!!

This series has so far been excellent. They are deep, raw, emotional explorations of love and humanity/“otherness” they are by no means Quick romances. There are struggles of seemingly insurmountable differences of morality and opinion. There are lessons and losses. Each of these two books has made me feel raw at the end. But absolutely satisfied.

I loved War, and I suppose that’s why I continued on with this story even though Miriam had me grinding my teeth. There was just something about her I didn’t like and couldn’t connect with. Either way, love this series!

Loved War, Miriam was meh

Loved the first book. Pestilence and Sara were awesome. Love War in this book, but Miriam was so annoying with her holier than thou attitude, immaturity, and over all denseness. Was considering not finishing or going on to the third book, but the story got good at the end. Just wish Miriam wasn’t such an awful character.

Couldn’t Stand Miriam

The hate, love, killing and uncertainty of what was happening around her was intense. This book absorbs your attention.

War is the second book in the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse series and it's just as good, if not better than, Pestilence.

While Pestilence was traveling around the Pacific Northwest and Canada way spreading the plague, War is raiding the sands of Jerusalem and Egypt, killing everybody he sees. Men, women, children, the elderly, doesn't matter. He comes across our heroine Miriam and immediately keeps her, as she is marked as his. She says, yeah I don't think so. But you can't really argue with one of God's messengers.

Pestilence was pretty heavy on theology, I thought. I thought it was interesting, but I wasn't so much into that. War is straight up sex and death. Of course young feisty Miriam has her own ideas, which are opposite of War's. A lot more sex happens in this one. It's a little more emotional too, I thought. I'm so ready to read Famine. I'm getting on board late, but I'm here for it.

Admittedly, I’m only part-way into the book. However, the narration sounds really murky, like it was recorded with a bad microphone. I’m confused, because it’s the same narrator that did the last book, and this wasn’t an issue. I don’t know if audible could run the file through some sort of software to clean it up, but it’s a shame to have something distract from the hard work of such a magnificent author and narrator. I probably listened to Pestilence 3-4 times, and am sure this story will be just as amazing. =) But, a better audio-file would really facilitate the immersive experience in regard to listening to the story.
