Witty and insightful view of the world

I positively loved book 2 and 3 of this series. My review lacks 5 stars, because I keep thinking I can't over-rate books. The main character is incredibly likable and I value his constant reflections. His mysteries are good, but they are not as valuable as his constant insights. I highly recommend this if you are more interested in character development than intrigue, though both are absolutely present. If I were to say something critical, it is that the mystery is more intense than it should be/could be. Can't say more.

This series is great but Ray makes them awesome

I have listened to two of these now (skipped the second one) - why?

I listen to a lot of different kinds of books, but when Ray Porter is reading something in my genre, I give it serious consideration. There are other great readers but Ray is hands down my all time favorite. He "makes a book" for me.

This third book in the series is heartbreakingly good. It has enough 'drive' to keep me wanting to keep listening and the general writing is very well done.

I think most listeners would enjoy it as well.

No Need to Stick Pins in This One

Cordell Logan is in the process of becoming one of our favorite dude/protagoninsts as David Freed continues to grow him into a solid characters. You know, we skipped the second book (now on Kindle) because we could not move away from the narration of Ray Porter. And once again, we have the perfect match between author and narratorThis book challenges us as readers and listeners with the content as Logan endures the most emotionally charged span of his life. Once again, this cook contains all the elements of good story-telling...believability, subject knowledge, and dynamic writing and humor to keep the listener wanting more.

Good Installment

I didn’t like what happened in the story. It’s not that I didn’t like how it was written, but I didn’t like the story. But overall, it was as always, well written and entertaining. I feel it could’ve used a little bit different approach on stuff, but I’m not writing it, so who am I to say? I’m quite eager to read the next one.
Of course, Ray Porter remains a flat out amazing narrator- I buy whatever he narrates!

Triumphant Return By Ray Porter!

I'll make this short... Masterfully written, masterfully narrated... Freed and Porter make this series what it is! As for the story I will say it was riveting and emotional... Terrific read and I would most certainly recommend this book to anybody...

This is Darker, Which is Not a Bad Thing...

This Cordell Logan is darker then the previous - but that's not a Bad Thing. The story is more layered than the previous two in this series, but just as engaging, if not more so, for it. The narration is very good, and the writing is a as crisp as usual. Others have thought it overly violent , I didn't. These are those kind of books - quite a bit of Boy Stuff. I found the character development in this one set it apart - and kudos to the author for not doing the predictable. If you like Cordell Logan, you'll like this.

Best entry to the series yet

Start to finish this was a great book. Book three took a slightly more serious tone than the previous two books, but it wasn't any less enjoyable for it. I'm really excited to see where this series is headed.

The story was gripping and heart wrenching. Humor thrown in makes the story flow. Ray Porter is the best narrator in the business!
