Excellent performance!

Once again, Anspach & Cheney knock it out of the park, again! Mark Boyette performs as he always does - superbly. Void Drifting as an a better alternative to FTL threw me for a minute, but I got used to it. I can’t wait for book 2!

Reimagined Farscape

This series feels like a reimagined Farscape. Go A Guy from Earth with unique knowledge about wormholes. Oh sorry, I mean "the void" ends up on a prisonership.

Good job Galaxy building laying out the basis for the rest of the series.

Great book! Strong character building. Overall, engaging from start to finish. A general outline for FTL and the void but. with plenty of mystery left.

Pretty good, awkward romance so far.

Great world building, impressive characters, but the romance was so painful to see it play out like that. Sert is funny at times but the A.I and the pilot are just so annoying. Kinda wondering what book 2 will be like.

Indy Boards the Falcon

If “Indiana Jones boards the millennium falcon” sounds like your jam, you’ll love this book. Once you get past the first third, that is. That part so desperately needed an editor it’s kinda funny. But trust: it’s absolutely worth slogging through, because once it takes off, it takes OFF. Highly recommend.

The realistic man character

Finally a series that could be any average Joe that we all wish could be us!

Sympathetic characters, relentless pacing, imaginative world-building

This is the most compelling fantasy/sci fi I’ve read in a while. The dynamic amongst the rag-tag crew is delicious. Their reactions to calamity and conflict are relatable and credible. The novel literally hits the ground with a bang, and then never lets up. It reminds me of Farscape, one of my favorite shows.

Unexpected good time

I was unsure as to where the book was going and was quickly hooked! Definitely worth the credits. I look forward to seeing where book two takes us.

Good; but....

I enjoyed the book; but like most Sci Fic, the difference between good and great is how well the author made the unbeliveable....well believable. In this case, what stood out most was the dismissal of thousands of years of change in society and technology. These omitted changes were not applicable to Earth's populations. Rather, they applied to multiple alien societies. I will not give away the story line; but those who give it a listen will hear what I mean. That said, it's still a fun listen and I plan on continuing with Book 2 of the stoey.

One of the best Mark Boyett excels in this series starter, Void Drifter

I'll admit at the beginning of this review that I am a fan of both writers, J.N. Chaney and Jason Anspach. It's like seeing the flashing HOT NOW sign at Krispy Kreme Donuts. You know it's going to be worth the detour, no matter what else you may be doing or, in this case, reading.
The new series starter, Void Drifter, is excellent. Imagine Indiana Jones meets Star Trek with a bit of Galaxy Quest to keep you on your toes. If you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, then you are going to love getting to know the characters in Void Drifter. As an added treat, the audiobook is performed by one on the best, Mark Boyett. This is going to be a great series, and I have already added Void Drifter 2 to my library. -Mr.Bill
