DESPRE AUTOR
VLADIMIR SOROKIN (n. 1955) este un scriitor rus de factură postmodernă, unul dintre cei mai populari autori din literatura rusă contemporană. A scris romane, piese de teatru, nuvele și scenarii de teatru și film, precum și libretul pentru Copiii lui Rosenthal de Leonid Desiatnikov (2005), prima operă comandată de Teatrul Bolșoi după un sfert de secol.
În anii 1980, a făcut parte din scena underground a literaturii moscovite, unde s-a format ca scriitor, după ce vreme de un deceniu, în anii 1970, avusese o activitate de ilustrator de carte și artist vizual. Cărțile sale au fost traduse în peste douăzeci de limbi și sunt prezente în portofoliile unora dintre cele mai importante edituri din întreaga lume. Sorokin este laureat al premiilor Andrei Belîi și Maxim Gorki, al Premiului literar NOS, cât și al Premiului Bolșaia Kniga. În 2013, a fost finalist la Man Booker Prize.
Dintre cărțile sale, la Curtea Veche Publishing au mai fost traduse Gheața, Ziua opricinicului, Kremlinul de zahăr, Doctorul Garin și Manaraga.
