heartbreaking <br />

This book had my heart racing. It was hard to keep listening at times but it's worth it

Powerful

I was looking for a gay themed book that wasn't just about sex or coming out. I found it in this, but I found a lot more. This is a powerful look into the world of domestic violence that I think everybody needs to read. Just. E warned, the ending is extremely powerful

Still destroyed me

This is my second read of this book. It is one of my favorite stories. I have never felt so connected to the characters in a book before. I felt every word in this story. I remember when I first read this book it was when I was coming out of high school. I was on the path of finding myself and I couldn’t put this book down because it was just so deep. The love grown out of pure violence in this story grabbed me tight and crushed me. I fell in love with both Rick and Kevin, They are the strongest characters I’ve ever known. The pain I felt from the intensity of their love/friendship built on pain and suffering really made this book an emotional experience. Coming back to it again almost 9 years later it still resonated so deeply with me. The story will forever pull at my skin cause of how incredibly deep I fell into it. 9 years later and I still find it just as beautiful as the first time I read it and it still ripped my heart out harder than anything I’ve ever experienced. It will be some time before I truly find my bearings after reading this again because the pain this story built is intense and felt so real. I do wish that I could have experienced a different ending but from the start to finish it makes complete sense the direction and intensity the author was truly working toward. I only hope to one day find a love as deep as Kevin and Rick’s but hopefully with a happier ending. Thank you for the read even though I know it’s going to be a couple days before I make it past the tears and the pain of this story. The pain and tragedy within this book was built so beautifully that it is a one of a kind story. I cannot say I will be able to read this book again though because of how much it hurts to get through… I had been sitting for a few days with the last bits of the book left because I knew how hard it was going to be to finish because Kevin and Rick seriously feel so real to me.

Powerful and Heart wrenching...

What a powerful story and a powerful message! Not wanting to share too much and spoil the essence of this story, I'll just say that the author's ability to describe the emotional quagmire that exists in certain environments brought back some painful memories and fed into my desire for obtaining a happily ever after. Though the ending was not how I had hoped, it fit with the message of this story. The writing techniques of PT Denys and the expert narration provided by Bryant Sullivan made 11 plus hours fly by. A definite recommend...

Love, love, love

This book will tear at your heart but it’s absolutely the best book I’ve read in years. I am in love with this storyline and can only hope the author writes more. If you like a dramatic storyline with a character that faces darkness and trauma, you will love this book.
