About this listen

Viking Slave is book one in the thrilling Dragonheart series. A gripping tale filled with action and adventure set in the early years of the ninth century.

A young Saxon boy and his mother are captured in a Viking raid. Fate transforms his destiny and, thanks to an ageing one-armed warrior, he wins his freedom and becomes one with the Vikings. Clan rivalries force Dragonheart and his new Jarl to sail the seas searching for a new home. Landing on the Isle of Man, they must fight for their very survival with enemies old and new seeking their destruction.

A very well told story

Griff Hosker has a great pace to his stories and Marston York makes them come alive.

Pretty Good

This is much like other Viking stories I’ve heard. A youth not much thought of in his hometown is captured during a Viking raid. He impresses his captors and “the gods shine on him.” He becomes a fearsome warrior.

As another reviewer noted, the action is simplistic.

The story ends in a cliffhanger.

A Fateful Journey

I loved this book. If the books by this author could get any better, this would be it. I read/listened to it in one night. I thought the characters were believable and I rooted for Gareth to the bitter end. I plan to pre-order the next book in the series. The narration was excellent.

Pretty good.

I liked it. I bought the second book before the first one was finished. I have a third on my watchlist.

Felt like an eternity waiting for this books audio

When first I read this book I was captured and taken away with the story. My imagination began building the Nordic world from the literature and my love of ancient history. I love everything about this book from the simple to the more complex. My only complaint was how long it took to get the audio version. Now begins the agonizing wait for the rest of the series...
