Great addition to the series as always

Good flow of action with the characters, also good pauses to allow for characters to emotionally develop.

mixed feelings

right off the bed I'm going to say that I picked this series in large part due to who the narrator was. Travis has never not done a fantastic job would I be listening to his work. I had just finished another fairly long series and was looking for something substantially similar. in my experience first books can be shaky Endeavors even from tried and true authors. it took so long for me to be hooked on this series. the writing was solid all the way around but just as things seem to be getting to the part of the story that I enjoy which is our character coming into contact with other people, we get to book two ways immediately isolated again in this void world. like I said the storytelling is solid it's just not to my personal preference and as a rule I would have walked away from the series at that point. circumstances in my life however left me with a choice of reading book two or nothing so I powered through. as it turns out I finally got hooked on book 3. with that said I continued on back to back with the ending of book 7 being a fantastic place to stop to wait for the next book to drop. book 8 however was already out and so I continued right on with a little voice inside my head Whispering that I'm going to get screwed at the ending and then have to wait for the next one in the series for who knows how long. as it turns out I was correct in that there is something of a cliffhanger. it's telegraphed fairly early on in this book that someone very important to the main character has been drug into this new world with him. one would have hoped for a resolution to that in this book but ideally the resolution will come in the next and not be drug out to the one after next. either way is going to be next year at the earliest.

Amazing and I need more

Always goes by so fast never a dull moment. I was surprised that I finished the book I swear it said over 20 hours of audio but only seem half that amount. Amazing story as always. Now hurry up with the next book.

This was excellent! Also, I totally called the Imara reveal, ha! I made the mistake of slamming this as soon as it came out, not I am absolutely bereft until book 9, Crown, comes out. As of 10/05/23 Nicoli Gonnella’s site says he’s 30% through writing book 9. I may have to cheat a lil’ and go to his Patreon for a preview…
