My favorite author!!
The hardest thing for me was the wait between books because I love this series (and his others as well). The story picks back up seamlessly from the previous book. The narrator continues to do a fantastic job.

Highly Recommended
This series keeps getting better. The conceit of using a virtual RPG to prepare for an actual existential threat increases my emotional involvement in the story and provides an excellent canvas with which to examine and develop the protagonist's character.
Most of the progression fantasy I read is essentially popcorn fiction, fun for what it is, but with little lasting impact. This is becoming more than that, which is elevating the series to at or near the top of this subgenre for me.

I love this book!
This book was incredible.
The story telling and narration were just amazing. I was in tears multiple times. And as a manly man, I'm willing to own those tears. It was such good story telling!
The progression was absolutely awesome! I love the character drive of the main character.
I also like that the main character strives for perfection and though he doesn't always achieve it, never falters from his unflinching determination.

It's not bad but definitely fell short
I actually like the series and hope it gets better, so don't think im just hating on the book. Does it seem to anyone else that Lucius is becoming more whiney and less tactically sound in the head?
I mean he trains like crap then wonders why he can't fight as well. I'm not going to get into the back and forth with the girl

3 year wait...
I love this series. I really hope it doesn’t take another 3 years to get 12 hours of book with 4 hours of good combat. I’m cool with the forbidden love story. I’m cool with the ladies loving the MC. I’m cool with basically all of it, except if it’s going to take another 3 years, either ramp up the action, or give us twice the content. Macleod is awesome (he’s also real good in the Cowboy Necromancer series by Harmon Cooper, highly recommend). Thanks for another addition Apollos!

I always enjoy underdog stories, mix that with some forbidden love, unbeatable enemy and the fate of the world and you get this book. Great story, cant wait for next book.
