Twelve-year-old Lidia is outside her grandfather's house when planes fly overhead, bearing the Nazi cross on each wing. A book about courage and resilience!

This is a magnificent book! Jennifer A. Nielsen is a literary genius and deserves to be ranked among the greats such as C.S. Lewis and Mark Twain! There isn’t a single book of hers that I have read (or listen to in this case) that hasn’t left me in complete awe! This one was no exception! I can only hope that I can have the same amount of courage and resiliency as Lydia in this book when facing the coming calamities and the falling of our nation, before the great coming of our Lord and Savior!

Very fascinating to see what Lydia did in her life, and it was also cool to see that they used the sewers to get around Warsaw

A story of heroism

I have enjoyed every Jennifer A Nielsen book I have read. This book is no exception. The extraordinary courage, kindness, and compassion of Lidia Janina Durr is awe inspiring. I cannot think of a better author to share the story with young readers. Mrs. Nielsen did an excellent writing this story.

Good book

Why is it so sad at the ending????!! It was a good book but I just don’t love the sad endings

Courage at such a young age

Didn’t realize this was for young readers but finished it non the less. It was ok for me

AMAZING book

This was an AMAZING book. The characters were intricate, and the story line was amazing. There was symbolism, and Jennifer A. Neilsons words made the book come to life. I was sad that the book came to an end.

I personally loved the whole book but my favorite part was the end where Lidia found her mother.
