About this listen

The truth always surfaces.

When a small bush plane smashes through the ice at Falls Lake Lodge, it’s a chilling reminder of everything Megan Metzler has lost. Three years ago, Meg’s pilot husband died in a similar crash, a tragedy Meg and her young son, Chip, have struggled to move on from. Still, Meg does everything she can to assist when Commander Bryce Saylor arrives to investigate, even as working alongside the handsome pilot stirs up painful memories - and an attraction that catches them both off guard.

Bryce knows time is of the essence as he plunges into the frigid water in search of clues. But when vital evidence is destroyed, it soon becomes clear this downed plane was no accident. With someone tracking them from the woods, Meg and Bryce must race to unravel a mystery as indomitable as the Alaskan wilderness, or they might be the next victims to crash and burn....

A good entertaining, read but a bit predictable.

The narrator did an excellent job with the voices. The man's voice really could be believed to be a man, and the little kid's voice was really great. The story was interesting and fun to follow along with, but Like her first book the likelihood of finding an available handsome man out in the alaskan wilderness and having it be love at first sight and everything working out beautifully is just pie in the sky romance. There was enough danger and suspense to keep me reading; I wasn't inclined to put it down.
But The lead male character with his ever so wonderful, romantic talk and burning desire to be with this woman that he just met while he's working a case.
It's just somewhat unbelievable. men just don't talk like that, at least that's not been my experience, perhaps I just had never found the right man! Perhaps I should go to Alaska.

Comme ci, Comme ca

The story was ok. It started out with an attention grabbing scene but then kind of plodded along. The hero kept gushing on about how he could not have done his job without the civilian heroine and how clever , and strong, and brave she was. The heroine put herself at risk several times despite the fact that her husband died a couple of years before and if anything happened to her he would be left an orphan. The story did have mystery , true love and happily ever after which I always enjoy in a book

The writing is a bit on the high school level

The basic plot is good but the “love connectionS” are often written in a childish manner - the way we did in our high school assignments. Why do so many of today’s writers write as if the public has no morals nor will power? I love the characters that say “I know this is wrong but can’t help myself” - NOT! (I think I just talked myself into deducting another star.) I do not recommend this book.

Gripping thriller? Not! Boring wanna be

I forced myself to get more than 3/4 through but this story dragged on and on. A plane crashes with some mysterious cargo ( spoiler … maybe antique jewelry) sprinkled with a mildly flirtatious relationship between 2 characters. There isn’t even any Alaskan lessons to keep one’s interest.. I just can’t get myself to listen to it another minute. Wish I could have returned it.

Don’t waste your money

This book was so simplistic, unrealistic, superficial, etc. I didn’t believe the writer had any credibility about the subject/setting she was writing other than her own love affair fantasy.

Bad language.

This was the first time I listened to the author. In the preview, there was no sign of foul language. I would never have downloaded books from this author.

Now I know where the Scooby-Doo writers went

Story was unrealistic and very predictable. Book written in a way to continually restate the obvious and the inclusion of the little boy added nothing to the story.

Ridiculous romance and very weak plot

The romance is cringe worthy. Narrator is excellent but can't save a bad book. I will avoid this author in the future.
